Csömbor I
Csömbor Kunremád, third of his name, more commonly known as the Black Hand, is the current Blazefollk Emperor. Csömbor seized the throne from the late Alezar VIII after magically destroying the fortress and capital of Emberkeep. This marked the first aggressive war, known as the Dark Wars, inside Blazefollk since the Time of Troubles which preceded the Dennonian wars. Csömbor is a powerful mage and necromancer who propelled the Mäzgyrazyrfold to prominence inside the Empire and forcefully modernized the state before launching his military campaigns. At this point, Csömbor is recognized as the Emperor by all but the Fenmarch, where Prince Valien II and his faithful knights have held out for 5 years. Csömbor is a cruel man who has supplanted the natural order of the Empire instead of keeping with tradition and who rules with an iron fist. Csömbor has ensured the loyalty of most of the Empire, but if he were to fall his house would immediately die, as he has no heir. However, he hopes to rectify this situation and his forced marriage to Alezar VIII’s daughter Celestina will presumably produce an heir sometime soon.
Not many know of Csömbor's true plans for the Empire. Csömbor has been working hard at dark magic, and is seeking ways to become immortal. After all, he is getting rather old and his time is limited. Getting an heir, while also important, is something he regards as a backup plan; it would be better to put his plans in motion himself. Csömbor has looked intensely for some time at becoming a lich, something that appeals immensely to him. Because power is all he really craves, he is unconcerned with the negative side effects of lichdom. However, he is lacking the required ingredients to attempt the spell, and it is rather dangerous, so the safe option would certainly be to not do it. He has also considered transferring his soul to an object in order to dominate the future heirs of the empire in entirety. If his so-called allies catch wind of his plan, he also suspects they may attempt to overthrow him, so he has been very secretive. Beyond these plans, Csömbor has been carefully cultivating young mages into a new organization which he intends to use as weapons in his aim to take control of the empire. He has also been seeking for a suitably loyal and powerful mage in order to transfer his soul to if he fails to produce an heir.
