Judges

Judges are the highest law authorities in all of the Black Thorne. This is a duty brought upon by a nation's authority, getting the highest from the Entuthuku Nation and the Taung Nation.

They're designed to effectively interpret the law and ratify contracts and deals along with issuing punishments for breaking a nation or territory's laws.

Becoming a Judge is an effort that is so intense it takes years of work to be one and once you become one, your life would change forever as you are embued with national(and international) power.

Qualifications

There is in fact a judge's test. A test of neutral Law. Once passed a man or woman can become a judge. But to even qualify for this test, you must be elected by a political figure. Either a Sage, or a leader of a territory or a territorial representative. But even then that is not enough as you have to be interviewed by a Sage. Once accepted, you take the test and once you have the qualification you pick a location, most being chosen by yourself in conjunction by a leader of a territory in order to ensure peace.

Duties

The duties are very simply they must enforce the law. These are people, who's entire lives are dedicated to keep positive flow inside of the country. They are to find truth and enforce it.

Responsibilities

The only day to day task judges have are to listen and discuss. Every man or woman. Justice belongs not to the group but the individual and in the name of the group, the individual must get his or her time.

Benefits

Benefits are many. The first is leadership and control over land. One can choose land and it will be bought by the country. Then he or she is given or built a secure home and a security detail. They are funded by both the territory and the state, giving them great wealth. There is an element of power as they have the power to commandeer police and have legal agents with their jurisdiction those agents being Grand Auditors.

Judges are judges for the rest of their lives.

Cultural Significance

Judge's cultural significance as a judge is varies but most are accepted as a natural good as judges a generally always voted for by tribal leaders. It is the only power territories have over judges, a power they do not have between Grand Auditors.
