    Our Journey Begins
    Expedition

    With word of the opportunities at Dyramar Keep for the brave, a group of like-minded individuals met and traveled to the northern border of Auredain in search of adventure. The companions headed towards Dyramar Keep along the Old North Road that skirted the south edge of the Border Hills. Here they came upon an ambushed caravan and were enlisted to rescue a captive merchant. The companions traced the goblin bandits back to their cave hideout. In the following fray, the goblins were slain, an orc and an elf were freed, and a merchant rescued.

    The companions learned their way about Dyramar Keep and were apprised of the various rules and taxes that applied to expeditions north from the Keep. They met a shady trader named Mouse and the head of the Sentinel's Chapel which served as the local Divine Triune house of worship. After resting and picking up supplies, they settled in for a last night of rest as they were heading outside the walls on the 27th of Spring.

    The companions unearth an entrance to a forgotten temple dedicated to Vorkys. Exploring the sunken structure, they encounter the once-dead, now undead guardians of the temple and must fight for their lives. They discover a Bone Comb and valuables such that returning to Dyramar Keep seems prudent.

    One Voice

    The group meets with Essara, the bailiff of Dyramar. They provide her with maps drafted by Prospit and Eldin of the interior of the complex beneath Old Raven Tower. Prospit informs Essara that they have already notified Karia , the senior clergy in Dyramar, regarding the possible presence of an Elderwrath cult.   Essara explains that, in the future, that any such messages come from Lord-Steward Eriam or herself.

    The King is not overly convinced of the viability of Dyramar and it is important that we retain his support by avoiding warnings of emergencies.

    Another Way In & A Venomous Welcome
    Discovery, Exploration

    Continuing their search along the curtilage of the Border Hills they discovered a small cleft in the side of the hills that bore promise. The cleft showed signs of habitation and led to an inner cave complex that was clearly being used by a group for unknown reasons. Their explorations disturbed man-sized scorpions that sought the companions deaths! Once defeated, the companions continued their exploration only for Prospit to be stung by a lone surviving scorpion. With his leg useless and growing hot, the companions fled the cave and took shelter in the hills for the night.

    While travelling into the Sallow Hills, the Companions discovered a crevice leading down into the encased remnants of an old residence from before the Collapse. The entire structure seemed to have fallen beneath the surface and was entombed in rock and soil for over a hundred years. Their explorations uncover that the residence was serving as a tomb for the unquiet dead that had once lived within it.

    Having spent several days inside Dyramar Keep, Aeda Virenni sought out the The Companions as soon as she had heard of their return. She met up with them in the Traveler's Inn and spoke to them of her interests in history and their expeditions. They signed her up on the spot which, if Aeda Virenni, had been a little wiser might have given her pause...

    Intrigued by the tales muttered by the soldiers and drunks of Dyramar, Alleas Skimhorn made his way to meeting the Companions and convincing them of his talents and contribution to their ranks. They welcomed him with open arms despite his admission that he was scouting on behalf of a noble employer to the west.

    A Kitten Most Foul
    Life, Trauma/ Loss

    After spending the day at the Old Well, the The Companions settled back at their camp. It was very early on the next morning when Prospit Trima was ambushed while on watch by a fearsome beast; later identified as possibly a Displacer Beast. There was much lashings and bleedings. In the end, Prospit survived the attack with the help of his companions and, most definitely, a sleep enchantment that sent the beast into a helpless stupor long enough to be slain.

    Prospit's wounds were severe enough though that 'sheltering-in-place' was the only option for at least a week.

    The Barrow
    Life, Supernatural

    The Companions enter the Barrow. Finding the strange crypt to be quiet, they enter the main funereal room where a dozen or so caskets circle a four-walled inner crypt that beckons with a soft blue light. Geller moves closer and awakens the crypt guardians, long-dead retainers buried in the caskets, and the struggle is on! Edlin Thornsbane moves like lightning and invokes flames to scorch the undead guardians en masse. After a struggle, they defeat all of the guardians and look further towards the inner crypt.

    Within the blue light of the inner crypt, emanating from a suspended lantern, the The Companions watch in horror as the eldritch energies awaken the long-dead occupant of the inner crypt. The entity arms itself with weapons placed near its barrow and approaches the Companions. It seems constrained by the blue light cast by the lantern. But when the lantern glows brighter and enlarges the area lit by it; the The Companions choose the better part of valor and exit the Barrow of Blue-Light. As for the eldritch entity within the Barrow, the Companions hope that it remains constrained for the near future.

    The Companions quickly headed back to the cave where Prospit Trima and the others were biding their time and wounds. While doing so, they realize that they are being trailed by a half-dozen wolves with goblin riders. This matches the groups and movement they had seen regularly over the past trips in the Sallow Hills. They take a diversionary trail to avoid leading the hunters directly to the cave and find their way safely.

    A Likely Spot To See

    The The Companions locate a hill to the north with a solid observation post beneath an underhang. The hope is to view the figures that have been shadowing them and gain more information. While up there, they see a strange structure in the distance and a wide crack in the ground some miles distant. Over the course of the next two days, a few members take watch until at last they catch sight of a patrol. Moving quickly, they followed the patrol's tracks only to discover that there were at least two groups and they seemed to be appearing from a central location to the north.

    The The Companions return to the cave where the others are still waiting. Edlin Thornsbane shows Prospit Trima the glyphs that were in the Barrow of Blue-Light. Both of them agree that the glyphs are more clerical in nature; they seem to be related to containment and the channeling of hate or other dark emotions. The rest of the discussion is about scouting out the surrounding area since there seems to be something nefarious and regular about the figures that have shadowed them.

    After returning safely to the Keep, the Companions hurriedly meet with the Bailif, Essara, regarding thier findings. The notion of an organized gathering of subhumans just north of the Keep is deeply concerning to her. Unfortunately, she points out that they are too stretched just holding the Border Hills with their patrols to go looking for more trouble in the Sallow Hills.

    However, she does reward them for their information and promise aid from the Keep going forward. The Keep, she indicates, can assist with supplies and upkeep provided the Companions are working towards the same aims of the Lord-Steward and Dyramar Keep.

    The Companions headed out from Domir south along the rough-packed dirt that counted for a road towards Lorne Point. Once they arrived there and made themselves comfortable, Edlin Thornsbane headed for the lighthouse where the mage Unarias resided. With his letter of introduction, Edlin quickly learned that he would need to spend the next month learning the ways of concocting elixirs and potions along with the skills necessary for further advancement as Adept in the arcane arts.

    When his friends learned of this, it was decided that they would return in thirty days time. Edlin was curious as to what they would get up to but they assured him that 'something was bound to come up.' And it was with that ominous statement that the party was separated for a time.
