MOUSE was the first and only HIN that was known to reside behind the walls of DYRAMAR KEEP. He had been there for years and ran the PROVISIONER & TRADERS STORE—a motley collection of sensible outdoor adventuring stocks jammed with the possessions of past and likely long-doomed individuals. While much of it was junk, there was the occasional diamond-in-the-rough such that savvy folks might not consider an hour sifting through the detritus a complete waste of time.
MOUSE, the nickname was the only name he answered to, spoke little about his origins and kept very strange hours. More than once, he had been brought before the Seneschal to provide some ‘valuable assistance’ on the propriety or ownership of items and individuals.
In the mid-Summer of 117 YS, Mouse’s place of business was closed without mention for an unprecedented three days before opening under the ownership of URTZO, a newcomer to these parts. While the deed for sale of the store was deemed legitimate by the Keep it did not take long for rumors to begin flying about the Keep’s resident gnome and all manner of perceived ill ends that may have caused his disappearance.
Most folks can be found wagging their jaw nowadays about how they had seen a crew of ‘disreputables’ at the business long after proper merchants had shut for the door and that this was immediately preceding the gnome’s disappearance. Of course, when cornered, none of these folks actually saw it themselves but heard it from a friend whose sister’s cousin was on guard duty and saw it with their ‘very own peepers!’
Regardless of those spurious rumors, it has been established beyond a doubt that he never signed an exit manifest as required when leaving DYRAMAR KEEP.
