The Bloodpines
Overview
The Bloodpines are largely considered to be a haunted woods within The River Kingdoms. Presently Venithyr controls the region, and while they have sent out expeditions of soldiers to attempt to reclaim some of the forest, many have returned bloodied and wounded, some even with their minds broken from the horrors that lay within. Unfortunately, even the soldiers fail to describe what exactly attacked them...Geography
The Bloodpines are a large forest within The River Kingdoms, presently controlled by the faction ruled by Patriarch Egalis Casconne II who rules over Venithyr.
Not much is truly known about the geography or what exactly lies within the forest. Almost everyone who enters returned bloodied, if they return at all, unable to speak of what horrors lie within. The forest itself looks like an evergreen pine forest to passerby. It is not until you make it about thirty minutes into the forest do the pine tree greenery starts turning to a blood red and red eyes start appearing around them, staring at them hungrily. Not to mention the thick and heavy fog that seems to hang within the air, getting thicker with each step towards the center.
Many attribute the odd coloration and the predators within The Bloodpines to an ancient ritual done by some cult or witch coven from ages past. It also is the reason that there has always been more patrols around the nearby area, even though none of the predators have ever left The Bloodpines, locals think it is only a matter of time.
Fauna & Flora
Not many animals seem to live within The Bloodpines itself, the only ones that have been mentioned have been most of the ones one might expect. Deer, elk, wolves, and the ocassional bear among others. However, even the normal animals seem to be even more feral and wild than those outside of The Bloodpines. Many think that perhaps the Aeslari originated from whatever ritual corrupted this place in the first place. Even the holiest priests of Jaclyn, Queen of the Heavens or Azrael, King of the Heavens seem to be unable to purge the woods from whatever corruption seeps into its essence.
