Stormwing Manor

Overview

House Stormwing was once seen as a Great House, even being a house elected to rule The River Kingdoms. Their manor was seen as one of the most illustrious and expansive even amongst the other nobles. Their grandeur knew no bounds and during their reign the manor only expanded and grew, eventually staffing well over 2,000 servants simply to attend to all the family members, keep the ground, and provide for the frequent guests, cleaning as well. Being seen as one of the richest and most illustrious houses of the time gave them many benefits. Of course, this was all before Lady Alys Stormwing was kidnapped and created her infamous The Portrait of Lady Alys Stormwing and slowly brought the downfall and madness of the House.

Alterations

The Stormwing Manor has had many alterations to it throughout its lifespan. With each project completed, another was added and so the manor kept expanding to fit the many roles that it played within House Stormwing and their expanded riches and prestige. It seems like there was always engineers, carpenters, and stonemasons at the manor building it up and adding new wings and buildings on the exterior to house the ever-increasing amount of servants.

History

The Fall of House Stormwing

House Stormwing was once a proud and illustrious Great House that was even elected to at one point rule. However, ever since Lady Alys Stormwing died and created the The Portrait of Lady Alys Stormwing, the leaders have slowly descended into madness. Each new ruler taking the head of the house began to slowly start seeing and hearing Lady Alys Stormwing and taking advice from her, though they were the only ones who could see or hear her.
This continued for many, many generations. Each generation starting their reign with less money and less prestige than the last. Each one also descending into the same madness that plagued their forefathers. This went on until Matriarch Meleni Stormwing was named leader of House Stormwing. She was at first seen as a fair and kind Matriarch, as her ancestors had, until the madness struck.
Matriarch Meleni Stormwing perhaps suffered the most sudden on-set of madness and lashed out with such a fury. One day when she was holding council, attempting to figure out how to potentially save the house, she stood up and drew her sword. Many questioned her actions but none felt overtly threatened until she started dashing around the room, cackling madly while she cut down each of her advisors, staining the room and herself red with blood. She ordered her most loyal guards to start cutting down the remaining servants and anyone else in the manor before cutting them down herself.
It wasn't until everyone within the manor lied dead or dying that Meleni Stormwing seemed to regain herself. Upon looking at the horror she inflicted upon her people, she felt nothing but grief and remorse. She climbed to the throne where she once ruled over her small part of The River Kingdoms where she sat down. With her own sword, she stabbed herself through the heart, and with no heirs to her name, finishing off House Stormwing for good.
