The Dreaded Binding
One day, Somaran was attacked by
Aeslari, a vicious, feral beast with a great maw that can bite a man in half. They rampaged through the village, butchering and devouring the denizens over the span of several hours. It was by pure chance that the nearby
Coven of Wilted Roses caught wind of the
Aeslari and quickly went to investigate. Upon seeing such a massive pack, over a hundred strong though many were wounded, they quickly began setting up wards around the town.
It's said that the Coven chanted for three days and three nights, fending off the beasts with magic and the exhaustion settling into their bones, but still they defended themselves and kept chanting, building up such a powerful ward around the town that the
Aeslari started slinking back into the town, not even approaching the edges, seeming to be in fear of the
Coven of Wilted Roses and their magic.
At the end of the ritual, only half of the witches returned to their lair, for the rest dropped dead after wards were set up, warning all who would heed their words that if any were to cross the barrier around the edge of the town, that the ward would crumble and what remains of the
Aeslari pack would once again ravage through
The River Kingdoms at such a speed that even armies would not keep up, for in their captivity so too grew their rage and feral instincts.
