Mapuraray Range
The Mapuraray Range is a geographic region of Tersten, located in the Yukela Mountains. It is home to the Kingdom of Mapuraray, who are in control of most of the region. The Hawar Valley lies to the north, and the Greenstone Valley lies to the west. These are the only two ways into the Mapuraray Range, due to the impassable mountains to the east and south. It is situated between the Federal Province of Western Sahamptha to the north, and the Federal Province of Yukela. Historically, the range has been part of Western Sahamptha, and a territory within the Hawarami Federation and the Sahamptha Union until 67 PC, when the Kingdom of Mapuraray declared its independence, and has since pursued closer ties with Yukela. Today, it is part of the Riohacha Pact.
The range is divided into four sectors of the Kingdom of Mapuraray;
- The Mapuraray Highlands, which lie in the north and are mostly rolling forested hills and highlands, with the Amamar River and the town of Gorkhem lying on the border between the Kingdom and the Hawarami Federation.
- The Mapuraray Lowlands, which lie in the south and are mostly farmlands and forests, stretching from the town of Kaiwoba to the city of Mapuraray, the region's capital and its most developed city. Much of the land has been developed in recent years, with road and rail connections to many of its minor settlements.
- Kistima lies to the west, and contains both the Kistima Lake, with the towns of Bidhala and Sungowa along its coast, and the Narhat Lake, with Kothi sitting on its southern shores. The Narhat River flows from its source near Mapuraray and makes its way down into the Narhat Lake, and then further on deep into Yukela, where it passes the city of Riohacha on its way to the Copper River. The river is a valuable trading link to the Yukela Pradesh, and helps keep the Kingdom in their sphere of influence.
- Mugala is the eastern mountain region of Mapuraray, largely impassable and yet home to some of the Kingdom's most valuable resources. It is high in the mountains, near the town of Muguli, that the Kingdom's Royal Mining Corporation works to extract precious metals that help bulk the Kingdom's treasury.
