Bibisango
Bibisango, called the Jewel of the Sahamptha, is a major city in Bibisangi Reach, and the largest in the Western Sahamptha. It is settled on the northern shores of the Řoaßĕ Mere. Bibisango has been featured in countless pieces of art and other media, seen as a place of romantic beauty and exotic mystique, something that the Bibisangi consider to be a little racist. Today, Bibisango has a profitable tourism industry, attracting many off-worlders.
Bibisango is a jewel of canals and green spaces. Taking full advantage of the Řoaßĕ's glacial freshwater, many canals and waterways bring water across the elevated plains of the Bibisangi Reach. The city is divided into two portions, the New City, and the Old City. As the names suggest, the Old City is the original settlement of Bibisango, built with local materials such as stone and wood. Many of these buildings have been reinforced with modern materials, with there exterior facades preserved. The Old City is divided into several quarters, such as the Palatial Quarters, where the city's administrative buildings are located. Some of the city's oldest families still live in the Old City, their ancestors having built the buildings they live in today. The New City is much more developed, with metro facilities, skyscrapers, and a large tourism industry.
Government
Bibisango is the capital of the Dustbowler Collective, which governs both the Bibisango region, and also claims to govern the entirety of the Western Sahamptha, excluding the Hawarami Federation. It governs from the Blue House of Bibisangi, located in the Palatial Quarter, in the north-west corner of Bibisango.
History
Bibisango was founded in 10 PC by convicts fleeing from the Pinascimate Penal Authority, and was well hidden within the Sahamptha Desert. It remained isolated, and hidden from the majority of Tersten long after the collapse of the Penal Authority. It was only with the founding of the Tersten State that Bibisango finally became part of the greater Tersten community, albeit under the People's Republic of Lordania. During the occupation, Bibisango became a major port for the Tersten Resistance. The Unitarians considered Bibisango a curious oddity, and its corrupt overseers quickly helped to establish Bibisango as a drinking and gambling den, with contraband flowing across all parts of the city. While this had absolutely disasterous affects on poverty and the crime rate, it also allowed the Tersten Government-in-Exile to trade contraband for state secrets, something they took significant advantage of. During the Great Revolution, the city was briefly besieged, but its Unitarian occupiers quickly surrendered without a fight when it became clear this was a planetary revolution. During the Interregnum, Bibisango became the capital of the Dustbowler Collective, with its government focusing on the reconstruction of the city, and tackling its crime issues. As a result, for the past decade, most funding has gone into the rebuilding, and expansion of Bibisango, with very little being spent on the expansion of vital infrastructure within the Sahamptha Desert that the Collective claims to be administrating.
