Gorkhem
Gorkhem is a market town on the banks of the Amamar River, the northernmost part of the Kingdom of Mapuraray. Gorkhem is located in the Mapuraray Range, and is a vital trading port downstream from the source of the Ammar, thus awarding it a significant amount of influence further down river within the Hawarami Federation, who contest ownership of Gorkem and this part of the greater Hawar Valley.
History
Gorkhem was settled in 23 PC as part of the expansion of settlers from Harmony. Under the People's Republic of Lordania, Gorkhem suffered due to decreased trade and general unrest against the Unitarians. However, it managed to avoid much of the fighting, and was able to quickly recover as part of the Hawarami Federation's Mapuraray Province. Mapuraray Province declared its independence from the Hawarami Federation in 68 PC, becoming the modern day Kingdom in the process. The north-west part of the Mapuraray Province refused to join the Kingdom, and declared itself loyal to Hawarami, leading to the Mapuraray Crisis. Gorkhem, being part of the north-east, suffered minor damage after a brief skirmish between the two forces. Ultimately, the Crisis fizzled out, and Gorkhem was unscathed, going on to become one of the most important towns in the northern Kingdom.
