The Mistwall

The Land of Eternal Fog

Written by David_Ulph

Geography

Surrounding the Vampyric Mistlands region in north Mylrondia is the Mistwall. Created by wizard lieutenants under the Golden King, the Mistwall was designed partly as an experiment and partly as protection for another experiment. It's main purpose was the latter, to ensure the safety of the developing Vampyre breed from outsider invaders should the Golden King's reign fall. Even at the height of the Great Western Empire's power, no army could pierce the deadly magics of the Mistwall. Leaving the Mistwall is also near impossible, with travellers seeming to go round in circles when travelling on roads, and always getting lost or hunted down in the countryside.

The land itself is covered in woods and rolling hills, with a thick and consistent fog draping the region. Due to long forgotten magics, this fog never shifts nor moves outside the borders of the Mistwall. The soil, while it can grow basic crops, is barren and acidic. The trees, while grow leaves and apples, are withered and sour. The air, while never frosts the land, is biting and harsh.

Some unknowing settlements have been trapped within the Mistwall, with communities suffering from a myriad of mental health problems known as Fogblight. These settlements are forced into the worship of the Wapierzic religions and the dictation of either a Vampyre King or Queen who fight over the territory.

Fauna & Flora

The border of the Mistwall to greater Mylrondia is known as the Banshee's Nest for the simple reason that this is where the highest numbers of this predatory species has been sighted by Man or Vampyre since the fall of the Golden King. They are the main reason why most life fails to pass any way of the Mistwall, acting as some kind of guardians.

Various undead creatures such as zombies, revenants, wraiths and ghouls stalk the fog aimlessly, hunting down any travellers or usual woodland fauna that share the ecosystem.

Civilisations of humans, goblins and satyrs dot the landscape as well as travelling communities of wulvers that have migrated north west from Skìrah. Ghosts, spirits and fairies are also found throughout the lands.
