The Mythrinstitute

Founded by an enigmatic adventurer in Mayo of 5576NG, the Mythrinstitute is meant to convey a sense of curiosity and wonder to eager young students. Starting small, with a class of only one hundred souls, the atmosphere at the facility is quirky and energetic.

Life on campus is lively and often chaotic, reflecting the founder's own charismatic existence. It is still a new facility, so the on campus clubs and extra-curricular activities are, so far, extremely limited; but the nearby Bardic College Campus allows the students to participate in theirs as a courtesy, and has offered resources and assistance to the fledgeling magic institute.

There are comedic undertones to all aspects of the university, again reflecting the founder's values and viewpoint, and creating yet another draw for the school...and yet more consternation among the staff, who sometimes see Mythrin's chaotic leadership style as detrimental; but none can deny that he is an unconventionally stabilizing force amidst the unpredictability of magic. He has fostered friendly staff rivalries, who for their part use the diversion to engender a desire to excel amongst the student body.

The staff are dedicated educators, who sometimes wonder what Mythrin is thinking when he makes certain decisions, but none of them can deny that his unconventional style works.

Purpose / Function

This entire building and grounds are dedicated to knowledge, and to learning magic in particular. It is made for the comfort of students, and the use of the staff.

There is also a research facility on campus, one that specializes in new magics and trying to understand the nature of magic itself! It is an audacious undertaking that Mystra herself has partially sanctioned.

Originally a hospital dedicated to Pelor and Asclepius, this campus is perfectly suited to the myriad labs, classrooms, and lecture halls necessary for the school, and the glass dome over the library is a really nice touch. The towers were an irresistable draw to Mythrin, the founder, who (like all wizards) has an unbounded affinity for steeples, spires, towers, and spans.

Alterations

The buildings have been thoroughly repurposed, and now sport hardwood wainscoting and polished floors. The labs and lavatories have been completely gutted and rebuilt, with the plumbing system being updated simultaneously. The lights have all been upgraded to heatless flame fixtures, and the magical intercom system has been repaired as one of the quirky and unique antique oddities that fill the place with character.

Architecture

Constructed of riverstone mortared together with a limestone concretion, the main building is all that is so far completely renovated, and all that is yet needed. The inside is finished with hardwood floors, and cherry wainscoting; with indoor plumbing, and lighting that uses heatless flame sconces and fixtures. The many art pieces gracing the walls are vastly different, stylistically, although when taken as a whole they represent the institute's overall eclectic approach to education, and to life in general.

Every wall of the structure is considered load-bearing, and has been built to accomodate the vast amount of weight the upper floors, tiers, and towers, exert upon the lower levels. The way the weight has been dispersed into the ground is an example of architectural genius, and one of the reasons the complex was chosen for the school.

After all, wizards simply adore towers of all shapes and sizes, and Mythrin is no different. The fact that there are six wildly different ones attached to the main building was simply another draw for Mythrin the adventuring wizard.

History

The main hall was built by priests of Oghma, then purchased by and repurposed by the church of Pelor, and dedicated to saint Asclepius. The hospital has since moved to a more modern facility, and as such the campus was available at a fantastic price that Mythrin took full advantage of.
