Gallagher's
Smelling of teak, linseed oil, shipboard food and prostitutes, Gallagher's is the place to be on a Saturday night, especially when their favorite bards from The Bardic College Campus come round to jam. The music is heavy and rhythmic, and conducive to dancing like no one is watching, even though people are both watching and judging the dancers.
That is because this bar is full of pirates. The crew of the Caliphaius spends much of their time ashore, here, where they can sleep for free, and drink on the cheap. The prostitution ring known as Lacie's Underalls is run out of this bar. They have paid off the local cops with favors from the ladies, who very often go on to marry one of the guards and retire for some reason. For some girls, it is a family business; after all, Lacie is their adoptive parent.
Purpose / Function
It is the home base and money laundering machine for the pirates aboard the Califaius, led by Pete Gallagher.
Design
Horsehair plaster over a wood and wire frame.
Entries
The dock entry is used as the main; there are windows and back doors when necessary.
Sensory & Appearance
Great pains are taken to ensure that the main great room is always clean, and smelling faintly of sandalwood cleaner. The back rooms, however, look smell and feel like barracks, or a ship's hold. Everything is neat and clean and tidy, but the smell is somewhere between sweaty octagenarian and flatulent musk ox.
Denizens
Lacie's Underalls, and The Caliohate.
Architecture
Boasting an outdoor veranda and bar, this Inn and Tavern is built of nautical planks and beams atop a slab foundation of heavy stones. The outdoor veranda is shaped to seem as if one were lounging carefree on a dock somewhere, but the leather lounge furniture belies the otherwise well nuanced decor. The inn's great room features no columns, being of a cathedral type construction. The rest of the rooms provide both partitiononing, and load bearing, for the second floor (which mirrors the first, sans docks, great room and kitchens.
Defenses
It's usually full of half drunk pirates and their girlfriends.
History
Pete's Grandfather bought the place, and they have slowly been fixing it up ever since.
