Kakkle tribe

The Kakkle tribe is a small tribe of goblins living on the swamp island of Grolbels.

Structure

The hierarchy of the Kakkle tribe has six distinct groups. The higher the status of the group is within the tribe the shorter the name is. The following is a list of the names of these groups ranked by highest status to lowest.
  • Efu: The spiritual and warrior Chiefs
  • Ragos: Warriors and apprentice Booyagh masters (Druïds)
  • Matoshi: Tribe members with a special skill/ craftsmen
  • Realbatun: Normal Tribe members
  • Bogertemong: Slaves/ prisoners/ physically impaired

Efu

The Kakkle tribe has two chiefs. The spiritual chief and the Warrior chief.   The Warrior chief is the strongest Warrior and does most of the usual chief jobs such as town meetings, planning and training of the fighters. Their rule is usually no more than a few years before they are overthrown and replaced by a new chief.
The Warrior chief can be seen as the true leader of the tribe as he fulfils both the roles of diplomat and military leader.   The spiritual leader is more of an advisor to the Warrior chief than a leader themselves. They are the most powerful druïd in the tribe and are highly respected. Their responsibilities include research, being the tribe doctor and gathering knowledge.
Magic doesn't come naturally to goblins which means that a Spiritual leader's position is far more stable. If it does happen that there are two tribe members with the same level of skill in magic, instead of battling it out they'll both become a Spiritual leader to benefit the tribe. After all, magic is a valuable resource.
However, even though the spiritual chiefs won't physically fight each other they will try to find other ways to reduce the other's power and increase their own. Such methods include spreading false rumours, sabotaging each other's potions and ingratiating themselves with the Warrior chief.
As a result two Spiritual leaders usually means chaos for the tribe.

Bogertemong

This group is incredibly small among the Kakkle tribe, even for Grolbels standards. First of all, the tribe is too small to maintain any substantial amount of prisoners of slaves. If those ever existed they are either quickly integrated into the tribe or kicked out of the swamp.   Their general increase of knowledge and skill with medicine and druïdic magic also allows them to have a decent healthcare system without the help of outsiders. This enables those with physical restrictions to live decent lives and do small jobs for their community.
Depending on what kind of restriction the goblin has to deal with they are assigned to do simple tasks such as cleaning fish or mending clothes.

Religion

All hail the Eternal Beetle!
The Kakkle tribe live in the same swamp as the Eternal beetle. They have a symbiotic relationship with this giant, white beetle and this relationship runs so deep that the creature has attained the status of the guardian deity.   The Guardian beetle isn't the only thing in the swamp they have a symbiotic relationship with. The Kakkle goblins have immense respect for nature. They rarely take more than they need and use every last bit of the prey they caught all to uphold the balance of nature.

After death

Grolbellians, including the Kakkle tribe, believe in reïncarnation and that their actions in this life influence their luck in their next life. But rather than being a good or a bad person determining fate Gobellians deem a person's overall impact on their community or the world to be more important.
If a terrible person has an overall positive effect on the greater scheme of things they are more likely to be reborn in a good position than a good person who's had very little influence.   Within the Kakkle tribe, this belief manifests through their interaction with nature. Not only that but they also craft magnificent and unique Beetled garments over the course of their life. It is believed that these garments, in which they put their heart and soul, can be used as a duplicate soul to pay off any soul debts they may have and improve the circumstances of their next life.

Nature is ruthless, cruell and beautifull
