Rene Parfelle
First Duke of Yaty
Known for his skill in the art of the bargain, Baron Parfelle convinced the Emperor to fund an expedition around the southern tip of the Prydith Peninsula to found a settlement on the Darsiac Ocean. Convinced that this port could expand the borders of the Empire both geographically and economically - think of the trade opportunities with the Zennonaize Confederacy - he needed merely a few good men, an Imperial Legion, and of course, some coin. He would put up his meager holdings on the Island of Eldoria but its sale would not be enough. The Emperor, who had grand visions of expansion via peaceful means, agreed and Rene set sail.
After spending a year surveying the coast, he settled on a sheltered harbor in Theridon Bay, founding the City on the Hill and naming it Yaty after - if legends are to be believed - a dog he had as pet in his childhood. The Emperor, upon receiving the news was pleased and named him Duke of the city, asking Parfelle to expand his holdings around the bay and establish a city "worth of the Empire".
