Jethrick d'Uthar III

Founder of the Trans-Rheuthengage Highway

Ruling in the middle part of the third century, after crowning, Jethrick III oversaw a period of peace and expansion in the Empire. Focusing on more peaceful means of expansion that his forefathers, he freely spent Imperial coin on ventures that both highlighted the majesty of the Empire and expanded its influence. Among the projects he funded one could count the expedition to build a city on the northwest shores of the Prydith Peninsula that would eventually be called Yaty and the establishment of a garrison on the Denton Plains effectively establishing Dalencroft. To connect the Empire, now thousands of leagues across with footholds far from its Island heartland, he negotiated with both the Kingdom of Galencia and the Soulmeliti Forests to begin the construction of the largest feat of engineering ever imagined, the Trans-Rheuthengage Highway.

Beyond these Empire expanding actions, Jethtick III added projects closer to home that left no doubt in the minds of any on Tarien as to the power of Eldoria. He commissioned Francis Lloyd Vered to design a mighty cathedral to Arimathica and poured funding into the University of Karradone, going so far as to offer the Khadra vast sums of gold for the designs to Printing Press. Rebuffed by the Khadra, he employed hundreds of scribes to expand the University's library, adding nearly a thousand tomes it's shelves.

Alas, Jethrick III's vision of an educated and beneficent empire cost Eldoria dearly, and not in just gold. With his resources stretched thin, he could do little to respond to threats from teh Dharja in Carboth and was forced to cede home rule to the city, an act that was the first crack in the foundation of the mighty empire that would, over hundreds of years, lead to its decline.
