Nosferian
The Savior (a.k.a. The Lord of Eternal Sorrow)
A demon lord of the underworld, Nosferian (nos-fer-ee-en) has risen to godhood after supporting the Elynthi in the early struggles against the Soulmeliti. In exchange for the power to defeat their enemies, his worshippers pledge their eternal souls to his cause.
History/Relationships
From humble beginnings, as far as deities are concerned, Nosferian has risen to great power. Other gods are wary of his insatiable appetite for blood, fire, and power. Historically positioning himself against Tyloma, he has had little dealing with the other gods of Tarien, though he particularly dislikes Legerdemain for his part in the destruction of Naz'Asketon.
Dogma
Nosferian is the sole god of the Elynthi. This monotheism does not allow of religions within the realms of Merdenkal , and hold Tyloma to be the anti-god, or devil figure of the religion. The most faithful of his worshipers are granted immense power, including that over the devils in his armies. Unfortunately for the priesthood, the Translocation Ban has prevented their direct intervention in Tarien for the past three centuries.
Church/Priesthood
The road of Nosferian is hard. Those that displease him, often find their Demons turning upon them, and face grave destruction. To become a priest of Nosferian, the Elynthi are tested. Those that fail, die. Nosferian bestows punishment, rewards, miracles, and dictums on a regular basis, as he is heavily involved in the lives o his people. His priests serve the Elanthai Council and its people in the role of political leadership, and the church balances its power with house lords.
They wear black robes, often embroidered with protective runes. They are great scholars, and strong willed, self-righteous individuals.
"Nosferian's blessing extends to the use of his servants; but only thoe of the greatest faith in our lord will survive the ordeal. These servants are not to be used in menial tasks, but instead to defend us from the evil of Tyloma."
