Church of Eternal Sorrow
Built outside of the Elynthi capital, this towering structure is dedicated to their god, the dread Nosferian. Built from jet black obsidian and offset with veins of deep red marble, the five story cathedral sits atop a hill and towers over the city. Four sharply pointed towers rise to fifty feet in their air at each corner of the church with its center spire reaching fifteen feet higher. Guarded by gargoyles carved from dark stone have been known to come to life to render the unfaithful limb from limb, the main entrance boast two huge, dark oak doors, stained almost black with resin over the years.
Inside, a vast hall of worship seats over two thousand. Lit only by torchlight, the hall has seen the dark worship of the Savior, often in ceremonies filled with blood and flame. Surrounding the chamber, engraved on the walls in exquisite detail, is the history of the Elynthi, a tale of utter sorrow. The most powerful of Nosferian's faithful have, historically, used the hall to summon devils into service, though the recent Translocation Ban has brought that practice to a standstill.
Around the base of the hill on which the Cathedral stands are the dorms and libraries of the priesthood. As many of the priests serve in the government of the Elanthai Council, much politicking between the great clans of Merdenkal occurs in their plain, but welliappointed halls.
