Malatari Family
The Malatari family traces its proud heritage and modest fortune back to its earliest matriarch, Ondaro Malatari. Nearly five centuries before the first Darin was named Dono, the Malatari's were little more than a studious woman that owned stony pastures and a dozen horses. With few sources of income and debts accrued over generations, Ondaro was forced to make her estate mobile, travelling from estate to estate and offering her beguiling services returning sanity to spooked warhorses. Her journals, contained observations about the physical and personality traits found in different steeds, knowledge her daughters continued to collect and pass to their daughters after them. Within four generations they began selectively breeding horses to highlight specific traits.
Over the intervening centuries their leadership in this now commonplace Zennonaize practice has lead to their herds to swell into the hundreds and pastures extended to the lush grasslands just east of Parietz.
Soon the Lady Malatari's - who rarely married - had a tradition of passing lands to the eldest daughters, rather than sons, making them one of the few matriarchal clans in the Confederacy. Along with their titles, mothers of the Malatari Family have also often passed the trick of horse whispering, still a much sought after rarity even after Malatari breeding programs have large eliminated "spook" from their famous light war horses..
