Cinderion Spire
Located in north central Eldoria in the northern fringes of the Andorran Mountains, the Cinderion Spire is the only place on the Island of Eldoria where one can reliably find snow year round. Towering above its neighbors, this seemingly ancient volcano has slumbered since the dawn of the Age of Waves. It has, over the centuries, thrown off the occasional spire of smoke, usually after one of Chetria's shrugs where the ground shakes beneath one's feet, something the farmers working the rich soil around its lower north facing slopes have come to treat as part of their home, much like the rains in the spring or shrinking days in Autumn. Its slumber has proven a great blessing, as the city of Phelandria sits a scant 10 leagues from its snowy dome.
The placid nature of the spire has made it a nurturing home for creatures for natural and far less mundane. With its lower slopes covered in Evergreen Oaks, Bay Laurel and Cypress there is ample opportunity for wolves and foxes to hunt the deer, hair, and grouse live here. Bears and long furred monkeys squabble over the nuts and berries. Further up the spire, where Stone Pines and Mastics become prevalent, mountain sheep scrape out a living, ever fearful of the lithe grey mountain cats that prey upon them. Rumors of other creatures, such as gorillas that stand taller than two men and lizards that radiate their own heat to combat the snowy dome cannot be substantiated, but those that frequent the mountains warn of hippogriffs that patrol its skies and the screech of owlbears that haunt the night.
