SC2023 pledge

So, I'm going to participating in this year's summer camp. Unlike last year, I have jack shit nothing to do, besides a small amount of work. This being the case, I'm going to aim for at least gold, since I doubt diamond will be feasible due to just not having enough for all the prompts, but we shall see. I'm going to work on this world, naturally, and probably continue on expanding non-story-relevant parts of it.

Theme 1: Power

I don't have much for this, honestly. The three most important major powers are already detailed, being the STUN, the Coalition, and the Cellean autocratic space. Still, maybe I could write about some powerful corporation or other less directly impactful faction. Powerful individuals aren't that special either, though I could definitely see myself writing something about the STUN's council of twenty.   On second thought, the Triumvirate of Cellea is also quite ripe for exploration, havign formed quite an influential nation and being very mysterious, to the point that they present themselves as one person.

Theme 2: Frontier

The frontier of human space, often also called the rim regions somewhat mistakenly, are constantly expanding. Most new settlements will send a new vessel to colonize a new system within the first century of existence, and those new colonies will do the same. Often new colonies are born from just a nation expanding its influence, but also can be created for any other number of reasons, such as the The Flight of the Halven or the many ex-Cellean successor states leaving the region for stabler lives. Technically, Ochtotne Prime is somewhat of a frontier, so there's space to explore there too. I do want to make an article on the Vertul republic at some point.   On metaphorical frontiers, scientific development is very obviously a major part of my setting and my focus. I have an amount of scientific innovations to develop, notably C-Chains. I want to also rework hardened plasma, though that's not something for SC. The final frontier is also a major focus of my stuff, naturally, but that kind of ties into the previous paragraph, and I'd just be repeating myself.

Theme 3: Relics

I love relics. Artifacts and pieces of a previous time, often with not-insignificant power of status. This part is where my 40k influences shine through cleary. Stuff like the King of Anakrion's three-piece set of relics to the Anakrionian Defense Fleet's two heavy cruisers that make up nearly half of the fleet's firepower, I have a decent amount of things from more advanced regions in less advanced ones. For example, the Cellean empire being as advanced as it did left behind a lot of valuable technology for the less advanced, war-torn regions it controlled. I imagine similar situations can exist elsewhere, especially with imports to the rim from the core, but ex-Cellean space is the most notable region.

Theme 4: Communication

I've covered a good chunk of this stuff already. Both how interstellar communication works, as well as how English, or Galactic Standard, has changed and evolved to suit a disparate and spread out humanity. I could however, elaborate on laser communication systems, as now they only have a cursory mention in Common ship equipment.

TL;DR

I'm doing summer camp again, going for gold, hopefully making some cool new tech and such. Should be fun, hope that applies to everyone else too.
