This article contains important information about the world of Starsong!
Iasterene is my first world so for this WorldEmber I plan to develop the lore and history of the world for both the geography and the people.
My one Year WA anniversary
This worldember will celebrate the anniversary of my first proper world anvil challenge and also my first full year of sharing my work in the world anvil community! Since then I have participated in many official and unofficial challenges including summercamp, and made the decision to move to a new world that better aligned with the content I wanted to write. Sharing my worldember 2023 pledge for Iastarene was one of my first community interactions on world anvil, and it has definitely helped me to stay an active member in the community. Even if I'm no longer writing in the world, Iastarene will always be my introduction to worldbuilding and the wonderful world anvil community.Week 1
Word Count Goal
During summercamp this year, I exceeded my goal and wrote a full 32 articles which I am extremely proud of! Unfortunately, this did lead to a level of burnout (that coinciding with external stress in my real life) meant I am only just managing to fully return to worldbuilding. I did spend some time deciding whether or not I wanted to participate in worldember this year but ultimately decided that even if I don't write 10,000 words, I'll still have achieved a lot. Because of this I will only be pledging 10k words this time and will be attempting an average of 300 words a day like I did last year.Areas of Focus - Expanding my world
Since taking a step back from worldbuilding after summercamp, I want to focus my worldember on expanding the world of Starsong in two main areas, the planets of The Sol System and also the planet of Strion.Focus 1: The Sol System
Focus 2: Strion
Focus 3 (extra goal): Write an article for each type
My extra goal this Worldember is to write an article for each of the 25(?) categories. However, I always want to produce work that I am proud of, not just to meet a goal, therefore I will only be working towards this goal if I feel comfortable doing so.
Week 2
Review Your Homepage
I updated Starsong's homepage shortly after (or before?) Summercamp and I'm still very happy with the layout and information. For this part of the Worldember prep, I have updated my 'Current Goals' section to include a link to this article and some up to date information about my pre-WorldEmber goals.Review Your World Primer
My world primer is one of my most recently updated articles and because of that I don't have a need to update it at the moment. I am currently working on a map that I hope to incorporate into the article once it's finished.Set up your community tools
I didn't have much to do for this section of the homework. However, I decided to add a follow button to my world sidebar and I'm very glad the default colour matches my theme close enough that I don't have to do any CSS right now!
Week 3
Create a moodboard
Starsong has always been inspired by the combined sense of wonder and fear you feel when looking out into the endless expanse of space. It also asks the question of 'is anyone else out there?' and what lengths would we go to find out?
I selected these images for my meta (that never got finished) because I find they portray the essence of Starsong. They are otherworldly but still familiar and create a sense of longing for a place you've never been.
Update your writing playlist
I don't have a specific writing playlist, but instead tend to jump between playlists depending on the mood of my writing. I've been enjoying a range of genres recenty but I find that songs without lyrics help me focus best.Week 4
Find a community
One of my goals for WorldEmber is to become more active in the World Anvil discord community again. Since SummerCamp, I've taken a step back from worldbuilding and the community and I'd like to try to build that back up.Plan your writing schedule
December is going to be a busy month for many reasons (including WorldEmber). Because of this, I want to set aside a minimum of 30 minutes a day to work on my writing. Hopefully this will allow me to reach my WorldEmber goals and also get some time to relax!Final Thoughts
I'm very excited for this WorldEmber both to see what I can write, and also to read all the amazing work from everyone in the community. I'm looking forward to be doing more worldbuilding again (and hopefully some more art). On that note, I wish you all a wonderful WorldEmber!
Starsong is a lovely world and I'm so excited to see what you'll write in WorldEmber! <3
Thank you so much! I hope you have a great WorldEmber too <3
