Geography

Holopedia Galactica entry:

Pavia III is a temperate, forested world in the Pavia System of Cadriaan Province in the Tapani Sector. Its oceans and its land-based forests full of enormous trees are mostly in healthy condition despite serious damage done to the planet by hyperspace missile in Selona 12724.
It is within the standard gravity range of typical inhabited planets in the galaxy
Local days are twenty-four standard hours long.
Local years are one hundred ninety local days long.
Pavia III has a Type I atmosphere: Breathable for most species. A type I atmosphere has a proper mixture of oxygen, nitrogen and other gases so that humans and most near-human species can breathe it unassisted. These atmospheres may have contaminants that over the long term have a detrimental effect.
The axis of the planet is offset approximately twenty-four degrees to the orbital plane, causing moderate seasonal variation throughout the local year. Temperatures average between --5 and 29 degrees Celsius, and are in the most comfortable temperature bands for humans and many near-human species.
The sentient permanent resident population of Pavia III was counted in the census of Tapani Year 12730 as 1 thousand.
The planet is approximately forty percent covered in land. The planet has a large ocean, one very large continent spanning most of the planet north of the equator, two large islands just barely too small to be classified as continents, several small island chains, one major inland sea and several large lakes. Its polar ice capscover less than ten percent of the globe.
The primary starport on Pavia III, which was located just south of the northern ice cap, was Stellar Class. This type of starport can dock and service almost any class of ship. There were several shipyards in the immediate area, able to handle minor repairs and modifications. There was an Imperial Customs office on site. This facility was repeatedly attacked during the Twilight missile crisis, rendering it inoperable and unapproachable, and preventing the resident population from departing the planet until assistance arrived. Most starport activity should take place in a different star system.
Pre-Twilight archaeology studies believe that an "egg", an artifact from one of the earliest recorded holy wars, may have been buried on this planet nearly ten thousand local years ago -- possibly during the Butlerian Jihad.
A Mentat colony has been founded on this world, working to rebuild the planet into a "hub of research, enlightenment and knowledge."
