Nuxari Bot

Nuxari may be the only being of its kind in Shadowfire: a single identity forged from the symbiotic relationship between three distinct creatures. They travel the wastes of Mortugurra, collecting resources and artefacts and building elaborate churches and shrines as part of their devotion to Edifism and the Eternal Threshold

They consist of a sentient jellyfish from The Tangled Fathoms and a scrapper from the Stoneforged Assembly who have become a uniquely conjoined Klomerati Symbiote. Even though they refer to themselves in the plural, they no longer have a separate sense of 'self' other than the collective-singular 'Nuxari Bot'.

They are famous across the desert for helping those in need, and have saved many from death in the wastes.

Physical Description

General Physical Condition

From a distance, Nuxari Bot looks like many other Scrappers that can befound across the Sunside lands. They standa bout 5ft tall, with four large crab-like legs that they use to travel and climb. Their carapace is a collection of dented and rusted metal components, with external sensors and tools justting out in strange angles.

Along its limbs, and between gaps in its armour can be seen circuits and wires flashing with golden sparks.

It is only when you get close do you notice that the majority of Nuxari Bot's torso is made of the water tank that houses their jellyfish which floats in clear salt water.

The jellyfish's tentacles are entwined with crystaline Klomerati tendrils that extend into the robot's curcuitry, and light can be seen travelling through the jellyfish and along these tethers is rapid flashes of golden lightening.

Personal history

Nuxari

The organic part of Nuxari Bot began her life in The Tangled Fathoms. She was one of the Detluran, known coloquially as the Wise Drifters. The Detluran are sentient jellyfish who float in languid swarms through the upper layers of the Tangled Fathoms.

After her transformation into her adult form, Nuxari joined the floating swarms and spent many moons drifting along with them and interacting with the other denizons of the Tangled Fathoms as their species did - trading their music and light shows with the Turtlekin druids and helping the Anarchas kelp farmers protect their farms from pests and predators.

Unlike most of her kind, Nuxari was transfixed by the Beyond Above - the source of light where the waters ended. She would often swim just beneath the surface gazing up at the blue sky and the sea birds who could fly free.

It was during one of these times, close to the shore along Dead End Drift, that Nuxari first encounterd the Scrapper named Bot, and both their futures would become transformed.

Bot

Bot never knew its real name. That was long lost in the degraded morass of its memory banks. It was a survivor of Destruction so many thousands of years before, and had long since replaced all original parts with a patchwork of metal and circuitry salvaged across the deserts.

Over the long years Bot began to feel a hollowness inside him. He had visions of his long memory before The Destruction of being in crowds, with peers, working together, laughing, building. he realised he was lonely. And so Bot began to seek others.

He descended from the plateau atop the Devilspine mountains, enamoured of the ocean he could see far below. The vast expanse of it called to his deep memories for some reason he could not understand.

This unease within him would not go away, and he spent many years moving up and down the coast, examining the various ruins of old cities, half-drowned and cataloguing the sea life he came across. he knew something called to him, but it alluded him for so long.

The meetings of Nuxari and Bot

One fateful time, during a twin moonrise, when the tides were at their lowest. Bot was clambering over exposed reefs and rockpools, when he noticed something gleaming in the water. It caught the light of the sun and shone like gold.

Clambering closer he could see it. A small jellyfish with its long tails wafting with the gentle waves in the rockpool. It was Nuxari, and she in turn was enamoured of this giant metal thing that towered above her like nothing she had ever seen before.

Nuxari had become trapped in the rcckpool by the receding tides, and so Bot stayed with her until the tide returned half a moon later. They spent the time with Nuxari trying to communicate with her species patterns of light, and Bot trying with the percussive sounds of Scrapper cant. When the tide came in they aprted, but from then at every low tide they would meet up again in the rockpools.

The hours turned to days, and days to moontides, and they slowly learned to understand each other. Nuxari learned of Bot's loneliness and Bot learned of Nuxari's longing to explore the Above Beyond.

Eventually Bot hatched a plan, and promising his friend he would return, he left on a quest.

He was gone many moons, but Nuxari returned every low tide, waiting for him there. She grew worried that something may have befallen him. But eventual he did return, and Nuxari barely recognised him.

He had travelled wide and scavenged and rebuilt himself. Where his small head had been was now a huge cylindrical tank, with a strange transparent covering. Within this he gathered sea water and rocks and corals to build a place for Nuxari.

Finally he gently lifted her and placed her into his torso. She was excited as she floated within, looking out to the surface of the sea from the otherside. He stood, and turned and began to walk up the slop of the beach to the rocky plateau above, and all the whiel that chatted to each other about their excitement of what he would show her on their travels.

True symbiosis

it was not long after this that the events that would shape Nuxari Bot's true symbiosis occured. The waters within Bot's tank were becoming stagnant, unpleasant. And Nuxari was becoming illas a result. They both knew they couldn't contiunue this way, but Nuxari had no desire to go back to the Deep Below so soon.

Bot knew of someone who might help. It was a Klomerati tendril not far, that lived in a cave near a healthy source of Crystal uhd ore. There would be water there, enough to replenish the tank at least.

When they arrived, the Klomerati was fascinated by the strange arrangement between Nuzari and Bot, and rather than just gve them water, the klomerat gave of itself. a small part for Nuxari to digest and become a Klomerati Symbiote so she could make her own water.

But much more happened during that sybmiosis than any of them could have expected. As Nuxari ingested the tendrils given, they expanded inside her, and grew from her to connect into Bot's internal wiring. They became fused mentally and physically, and were immensely strengthened by the powers the Klomerati provided.

In this moment the entity known as Nuxari Bot was born.

Morality & Philosophy

When the jellyfish and Bot combined in symbiosis with the Klomerati, all of their memories and beliefs melded together, including Bot's ancient but adled memories of pre-Destruction times.

Nuxari's memories as a Detluran, floating through the oceans with music and lights as their expression, and their species' duuty to serve the greater good have deepened the mystical oulook of both.

Finally, Nuxari's deep longing for exploration that first led her to the meeting with Bot has only increased since their joining and merged seemlessly with Bot's devotion to experiencing the Eternal Construct as part of Edifism.

Motivation

The both seek to explore the world in as much detail and variety as possible, and as they do, to help those that need helping. They even try to convert others to their way of life - following experience, and encouraging others to join with them on their quest for the Eternal Construct.

Social

Contacts & Relations

Nuxari Bot is known across Ardi-Kokufa and Mortugurra as a nomadic saviour of sorts. Over the decades since their synbiosis, they have travelled wide, and helped many. From Warlords to Shimmerland tribes, and lost merchants and explorers from The Gleaming City. They even interact positively with Soulhusk Chimeras, as those creatures have no instinct to consume mechanical creatures, they are not a threat to Nuxari Bot.

The Illuminators of the Gleaming City are aware of the growing fame and following that Nuxari is beginning to amass, and are keeping tabs to see if and when they might need to intervene and re-establish dominion of belief back to the Lords of Fire. For the moment they just observe.

Religious Views

Nuxari Bot is a devout follower of Edifism and the Eternal Threshold, from the school of Divinism. This is something they inherited from Bot's Scrapper origins, and has only deepened upon their joining.

On their travels, they collect resources and use them to build shrines and even small temples in honour of Edifism. Some of these have even attracted other followers, primarily those who Nuxari Bot has saved. Some of the shrines will be maintained by these people in thanks for Nuxari Bot's help.

Speech

Nuxari Bot has obtained a reording device, like other Scrappers do, in order to communicate with people who don't understand either Scrapper Cant or Deluran Light Singing.
