Dawn Islands
Geography
The Dawn Islands is an archipelago consisting of four major islands with differing ecosystems across them by a considerable amount. Depending where you are you may experience the frost kissled lands of the northernmost island to the subtropics of the southern island. To get a better idea as to how different these lands can be see each Island article of the archipelago. Listed from North to South they are as follows: Kitashu, Shutoshu, Tobushu, and Minamishu.
In relation to the rest of the world, the Dawn Islands lay east from the Mainland separated by the Imperial Sea. To the south, beyond Minimishu is a smaller island chain known as the Dragon Isles. What lay further East? As far as anyone seems to know, nothing but sea and the horizon where the Sun rises.
History
In 278 Imperial, the Daguo Empire discovered what they considered little more than a backwater of an Archipelago that was easy takings. For over three hundred years this new province grew and began to thrive as a united people of a great nation until unrest lead to open rebellion.
A bloody revolution ignited in 600 Imperial after perceived mismanagement of the ruling power, the war lasted for forty years. The ruling family-- known as the Shuwa Clan-- was executed by Akatsuki Rebels, forcing the Mainland of the Empire to send a massive fleet in retaliation to end this rebellion once and for all. What happened next was an unexpected, explosive finale to the conflict. As the ships approached on the horizon, hours from making landfall, a massive explosion annihilated the entire fleet at sea.
What followed was the hottest summer in memory in 620 Imperial and an end to the conflict, as well as any communication between the Archipelago and the Mainland. Twenty Years have passed since then, and many are uncertain what the future holds...
