Swiftthistle

Basic Information

Anatomy

Swiftthistle is a species of thistle that has adapted the ability to convert mana into a sugary substance to store its energy for later use. The plant has erect stims with sharp spines and prickly leaves to protect itself. Capping the plant are effusive flow heads of purple or yellow.

Genetics and Reproduction

Swiftthistle spreads similar to other thistles, using seeds with tufts of tiny hair that allow them to be carried by the wind.

Additional Information

Uses, Products & Exploitation

Though the sharp points of the plant make them difficult to harvest without proper protection, the Swiftthistle plant is very sweet when consumed and has many known medicinal uses. It is known as a stimulant, and taken in smaller doses can improve alertness. Both used as a morning tea blend, and in stronger doses that can keep one awake and alert for hours longer than one might normally experience. It can also be used to improve appetite. But one should be careful, for frequent abuse of this stimulant can be dangerous as strong concentrations are hard on the heart, and sleep deprivation will catch up with an individual.
