Collbecan

Collbecan is a tiny gnomish village deep in the heart of the Rhiamreadh Woods. The majority of its buildings are either built into the sides of hills or upon platforms amid large tree branches. A series of bridges connect the village's houses, workplaces, and various other structures. Several gardens are constructed in decayed mulch and leaf litter on trees or in logs, and on the forest floor to grow native fungi, shrubs, and shallow-rooted plants.
Collbecan's isolated nature means has very little trade with other settlements. A few times a year, villagers will travel to the nearest cities to exchange unique goods. Otherwise, the village is self sufficient, getting all of its food from its gardens, and by foraging and hunting in the woods. Collbecan also has an abundance of artisanry due to its gnomish culture, especially in carpentry, cooking, and painting.
The village's origins aren't well known, though it has steadily grown since its founding many centuries ago. Most of its inhabitants have never been in other settlements, although they have a decent collection of information about the outside world, and its rare visitors are welcomed with a mix of respect and curiosity. Collbecan is also very near to a druid grove where members of the Circle of Oaks meet, which has led a few villagers to become druids or at least assist in their efforts.

Points of Interest

Circle of Oaks Druid Grove

A short distance away from the central village is a druid grove where the Circle of Oaks meet. It is made up of a circular clearing with various log seats surrounded by several ancient oak trees. The grounds around the meeting circle include many contained garden plots with diverse plants and fungi from around the world as well as stone carvings, further surrounded by lush flora native the woodlands.

Linden Library

Built within the boughs of several linden trees is the village library. It holds many of Collbecan's historical records and several guides in certain crafts and on the local environment, although it's very lacking in other topics due to settlements isolation.

Laevigata Pavilion

This building is a large wood platform that spans the lower braches of several trees with canvas roofs to let it sun but keep out some rain. It's the typical gathering place for the community, with benches and tables where people can sit quietly or meet up with friends and relatives. The space is also used for occaisional village-wide gatherings, including concerts and festivals.

Petraea Carpentry

Although its situated on the ground, most of the carpenters' work is done in trees to build houses, bridges, and other structures. Because it's such a valuable skill and profession for an arboreal village, Patraea Carpentry also offers general lessons to the community.
