Ron Dequois
It's said that before all the bombings and acid storms, this suburb used to be chock-full of green lawns, quaint homes, and big smiling families. The streets were always filled with children's laughter as they chased each other in the yards, and the scent of bar-b-q's (whatever those are) wafted through the air. Or so they say.
Now, most of the pre-maelstrom buildings have been reduced to rubble. The artists and historians making up this run-down district try to keep alive the memory of the land before all hell broke loose all those years ago by painting and writing on any surface they can find. The images of what appears to be healthy trees and something called "flowers" line the barren streets. Brown, crunchy grass still manages to grow, but only by the stream.
This area has one main river flowing through it which feeds from the lake in the east. The water towards the mouth of the stream is bubbling, but as the water filters into the district, it almost seems to be purified of all radiation. Maybe this is the work of supernatural entities?
The farmers here discovered a squiggly-looking plant that only grows by the purest part of the river. They are called "moondrops" and have become an important crop for trading.
The locals call the area "Ron Dequois" after the man who lead the first group of survivors to the district after a violent clash with the neighboring community, Group 14621.
Demographics
All races, social classes, and professions welcome! As long as they contribute to the community, that is. Everyone works for their share of rations and moondrops.
Government
Good old-fashioned communism. Everyone works for their pay. If someone cannot contribute, then they must have someone care for them and do their share of work. If not, then Ron decides what to do with you. Seems fair enough.
Industry & Trade
Here, Moondrops are traded to other neighboring districts for food, clothing, and supplies. These magical plants produce a pod of edible seeds that completely relax the body and mind. When smoked, the effects are even more powerful and can produce hallucinations. The test subjects sometimes even claimed the visions would try to hurt them and would wake up with unexplainable pains and scratches...
But besides that, it's completely harmless!
Infrastructure
Manmade walls painted with vibrant (and probably radioactive) paints, a couple buildings still standing from pre-maelstrom history such as the Bau Haus, one main defensive fortress in the case of an unfriendly encounter, mostly deserted smaller roads connecting all the sections of the district, three barricades (one on each main road coming into Ron Dequois), a few wells erected by the river made to harvest and preserve the cleansed water.
Assets
Moondrops, a museum of historical documents, artistic talent, purified water
History
Nobody really kept track of the years. All we know is that Ron and a few of his faithful companions were originally from the area now called Group 14621.
One day not too long after rifts in the ground started opening, he noticed some of the residents who inhaled the gases started to act differently. Being a biologist before the bombings, Ron noticed the infected residents started acting collectively, like bees. They all shared the same thoughts, feelings, and developed a new religion.
Ron and his followers later decided to leave this district in hopes of escaping this fate, and possibly developing a cure.
During their travels, Ron lead the group to a river to test the contamination. Upon testing, Ron discovered that this area was magically clean, as if untouched by war and disease. Ron made the executive decision to settle in this area and to try to develop a community that would only have to rely on itself to function.
A few years later, the district was established and deemed "Ron Dequois" after their noble leader.
The land seemed completely barren until a fissure opened up and released an unknown element into the riverbed. Ron studied the object as it grew, and upon testing it discovered it had several beneficial narcotic qualities.
Being a neutral district, Ron would meet passerby's and merchants whenever they come by road or water and proceed to trade them newly harvested moondrops for weapons or food. Building up a strong community, Ron decided it would benefit the future generations to document his findings and knowledge of anything he could remember. Thus, the district became known for it's immense collection of history, moondrops, and generous nature. However, some residents seeking refuge tend to cause trouble and have hidden agendas...
Ron still watches over his district from afar as he know spends most of his time in the Bau Haus.
Geography
The land is mostly barren and reduced to rubble, except for the 4 acres of farm land around the river dedicated to growing moondrops. The river flows straight through the district from the lake in the east. Manmade trees and painted flowers decorate most surfaces in this district in an effort to make the landscape more lively.
