Crescent Fields
In the old world, there used to be a saying - "money doesn't grow on trees". While it's not this "money" the books describe, moondrop is the closest you can get in Ron Dequois, and it most certainly be grown (too bad the district is communist). Near the Silver Stream where the moondrop grows best, the property of the district's farmers can be found lining the bank. The largest and most successful of these is known as Crescent Fields for its bent shape from following the curve of the river. There are rows upon rows of moondrop, with one of the few successful large-scale irrigation systems in the district, bringing water from the Stream to the crops. All of the greenery is natural here, further setting it apart from the rest of the district. At the front of the property away from the stream stands a plantation house. Well, not really, but it's the closest you can get to one in an apocalypse. It has a second story (that isn't on the verge of collapse for a change) and it has enough space for the Crescent's farmers to sleep, prepare meals, and use some of the stream water to bathe on occasion. It's become a point of jealously for some of the farmers who work for smaller fields.
Though the district has made great strides in having a classless society and shared wealth, the farmers are still a tier above the rest, unfortunately. They alone hold the power to influence the economy. After all, it's their harvest that produces the tradable goods. Lucky for the other residents of Ron Dequois, though, most of the farmers seem to be goody-two-shoes and won't step out of line, claiming that they "care about the common man".
Every once in a while, however, you get a bad apple in the bunch who can't help themselves. They start to hoard moondrop in amounts small enough to fly under the radar of anyone who checks the size of their crop. Shady dealings start to occur out the back door, where they trade with outsiders with their own stash rather than collecting their "fair share" from the Bau Haus. It's the apocalypse, who said they get to decide what's fair, anyways?
In the worst scenarios, sabotage takes place. In this history of Ron Dequois, this has only ever happened once when a nasty (or resourceful, depending on how you look at it) woman tried to poison the soil of her neighbors so their crops failed to grow. She became the stain on the otherwise pristine history of the Crescent Fields. It's rumored that farmer's corpse was made into one of those fake trees and is now on the Bau Haus property. Maybe it was meant as a message, or maybe someone higher up has a twisted sense of humor. Nobody has dared asked if this tale is true - Ron is a kind, steadfast leader. There's no need to rock the boat with a bold accusation like that...right?

History
Crescent Fields was established in the same place that Ron first realized that the stream was made of pure water and found the moondrops. He stayed two years on the property, helping restore the soon-to-be plantation house and begin the harvesting of the moondrops. Once he felt satisfied with the progress made here, he left it in the care of the farmers so he could continue to explore the district and find a foothold for a brand new society. The farmers maintained it well and were self-sustained, and only a year later Ron returned with news about the Bau Haus and the new communist community he was creating. The farmers were initially excited to reunite with him. But as time passed, a select few farmers came to wonder if this was the right decision. It was a fleeting thought for some, but it planted the seeds of corruption in others during the course of Crescent Field's history. One would eventually do the unthinkable and go out of her way to harm her comrades.
