Royal Surcounty of Canyndor
The Royal Surcounty of Canyndor is the land in close proximity to the Grand Duchy's capital of Canyndor, this land having been historically under the direct rule of the monarch of Doria's heartland, even back to the times of the Old Caenan Kingdom. Canyndor is obviously the primary settlement of the surcounty and where much of the trade and wealth accumulates. This land lies primarily under the crest of the Dorian mountain in the north and west, the Palantar mountains bordering on the south, the Enares and the Surcounty of Eidehn to the east. The Surcounty is located well not only in terms of defence but also for commerce as the Yarrow river provides ample access for traders, and roads connect both southeast to the Surcounties of Eidehn and Rydant, but also north to Anttula and Emberdale.
The land south of the Yarrow river is excellent arable land, where much of the Surcounty's agricultural produce originates, the land in on the northern bank and surrounding Canyndor is fertile nearer the Yarrow but becomes less so as the ground ascends in the Dorian mountains, where farms give ways to sloping pastures and mining communities and rural workshops. With the nearby capital, much of Doria finest artisan live within the royal surcounty.
