Mandate of Balomir
The Mandate of Balomir is a theocracy located within the central kingdoms. Balomir is the only theocracy within the central kingdoms, having become one after the dissolution of the Brynic Empire. The Archbishop of Camile is the ruler of Balomir, the position formerly being one of the many Archbishops within the provinces of the Brynic Empire is responsible for administering the lands and ensuring enforcement of the religious doctrines of the Hallowed Faith within Balomir where his power is absolute. The Mandate of Balomir lies on the western edge of the Central Kingdoms, its eastern border is marked by the Trendal Foothills, its northern border is marked by the Werrick River, its southern border is marked by the Raneppes River and its western border is within the thick mountain range of the Balomites.
The land that comprises the Mandate, located primarily within the Rohna Valley, has generally always been highly decentralised and under the control of various lords who have managed to preserve their independence largely due to the wealth they have accrued from local produce and the unusually structured military culture that prevails in the region. The region would become a theocracy largely due to the religious military orders that had formed to combat widespread heresy in the region caused by migration of persecuted population in Durabryn and Sarbrynia.
