Kingdom of Durabryn
The Kingdom of Durabryn is the foremost kingdom of the central kingdoms, having once been the seat of an empire that spanned the central kingdoms, Durabryn is now the titular leader of a confederacy of states of the former empire. The area that Durabryn encompasses is the fertile lands of the upper Bryn upon which it's capital, Brondholm, lies. The kingdom stretches south just past the Anta Forest, to the east, it follows the Bryn and then carries along the eastern branch after the red fork. In the west, the kingdom stretches into the Balomite Mountains and then in the north into the Cayan Ridge and The Knives mountain ridge.
Durabryn not only has one of the largest areas of control within the central kingdoms, but also the largest population with an estimated population of over five million people. Most people are resident within the towns of Durabryn, Brondholm, of course, having the greatest share, other settlements such as Varajmaar, Talmer and Haidenburgh also boast a sizeable headcount. Outside the cities, towns and villages, the countryside is dominated by farms and estates, only broken by rivers and forests.
History
The Kingdom of Durabryn was believed to had stemmed from a confrontation involving three brothers, Midorius, Cedor and Bolus, all descendants of Turmoniin the Betrayer. Cedor and Bolus had become increasingly concerned with the cruelty and lack of concern their elder brother displayed as ruler of the ancient city of Halfsburgh. They chose to take some of the residents and leave to the west to establish their own settlement. While out in the grasslands, as legend tells it, Cedor spotted a lion atop a hill watching the him and the settlers travel below, Cedor decided that this location would be the site of his settlement.
Agriculture & Industry
The industry and agricultural production within Durabryn is largely divided by geography, with areas closer to the Bryn River focusing on large farms based on grains, produce and fabric, areas more central within the kingdom transition into animal husbandry, large farms of sheep and cattle. In the east, the Mettatarta forest is exploited for great quantities of timber, to the north on the Cayan Ridge mining becomes the predominant sector of production. Of course, located within the larger settlements are the artisans and workshops that turn the raw materials sourced in the rural landscape into more valuable products, these are so numerous in scope it would be fruitless to detail even a fraction of them.
