Iri Islands
Aye, you could go further south if ye wanted. Te ol' Eerie Islands down south. Nothing but First Folk down there. Most of the islands there are inhabited, but also volcanic. Still it don't stop the folk from making their towns and villages of wood. Not nearly as many reefs as we 'ave in the ol' Guild Isles. So a bit easier to navigate for sure. But the waters do have some strange fishes and animals. Some of them damn big. But the further you south you go in the ol' Dread the stranger the animals get. Weather a lot warmer down there too. Be ready to sweat a bit. They get plenty of rain, but it is warm most of the time and the storms can be fierce. Still its worth it for the fruits. Got these things called mangos. You ever hear tell of a mango?

Geography
The Iri islands are 10 islands south of The Guild Islands and well south of The Grand Duchy of Kadmos. The islands are all volcanic in nature, with Alcove Island being a volcano that destroyed itself in an massive eruption around the time of The Cataclysm.
While the 10 main islands are the best charted, the Iri Islands boasts several submerged mountain tops, caldera remnants and other jagged rocky dots that are too numerous to count. Few are inhabited by anything more than birds and beasts. But rumors abound of some of these being used as pirate way stations and secret hiding spots.
- Alcove Island - remains of an exploded volcano
- Alo Island - southern most island, former Tyrian prison island
- Ech Island - Famous for its birds
- Elegy Island - Isle of the dead
- Honor Island - Isle of challenges
- Iri Island - Main isle for trade and tourism
- Saf Island - Tourist destination for adventure
- Toi Island - Smallest fishing island
- Utt Island - Filled with fruit and low key resorts
- White Island - Monastery and forbidden to tourists
Ecosystem
Typically the islands are considered subtropical, with plenty of rain giving rise to forests of tropical plants. Rare tropical fruits and trees can be found on several of the islands. Where volcanos are most active, there are some lava badlands, full of obsidian gravel and ash. The coasts are white powder beaches that have abundant seashells and tide pools.
Fauna & Flora
The Iri Islands is most famous for its unique fruits that are shipped to the Guild Islands and then sent as delicacies to the Theosian Empire and even the table of the Duke. These include breadfruit, pineapple, mangos, sweet potatoes, taro and coconuts.
Bamboo, Mahogany (called koa by the locals) and thick vines abound in the denser jungles. Tropical flowers abound, and their colors are highly sought after in the northern civilizations.
Most of the animals in the region are reptiles and amphibians. Some of these get quite large, and many are adapted to swim in fresh and sea water. Birds are found in abundance, including the fearsome Iri Sea Eagle, a massive raptor that has been known to attack small fishing canoes. But most tourists come to see the parrots and flamingos that populate the wetlands and forests.
Fishing is abundant and varied. On a single trip, a fisher can encounter colorful tropical fish as well as massive armored fish in the deeper waters. Sharks are very much a problem for swimmers, and there are rumors of large mollusks in the deep waters.
Local mammals are few. Tree rats and mice are common enough. There are also ring tailed lemurs and gibbons in some of the jungle regions. Saf Island has a herd of wild pigs that were once part of a settled farm.
Insects are typically flies, bees, moths and chirping "Singers" for the most part. Biting insects are only encountered on Utt island and are said to be a curse laid on the island right after the cataclysm.
Tourism
The Iri islands are considered a lush and pleasant destination for the wealthier guild's men and women to the north. They flock to the islands in spring and summer to enjoy the rare fruits, low key atmosphere and the games. Word of the pleasures of the Iri islands has even reached to the Theosian Empire, and some members of the Imperial Senate have taken the voyage to and come back with nothing but tales of wonder.
The Iri islanders are hospitable to tourism, and some limited trade. But they are also wary of outsiders enjoying themselves so much that they would want to acquire the islands. Because of this, there are some strict rules on what islands can be visited, and many guildsman and Imperial visitors have reported being followed and watched by locals.
