Yenisle

It was my people's home after those that worshiped Chaos tore asunder Yeno's work. This land was bonded to the sea, but also welcomed us with its forests and mountains. It is said our ancestors calmed the volcano and thus we were blessed by the Great Goddess herself. I was born here and though we came from Reluria, there is no need for us to return. We are blessed on Yenisle and blessed we shall always remain.
- Guildsman  of Guld Elsan discussing his home

Geography

Yenisle is the longest of The Guild Islands and the one that lies the furthest to the south. A single mountain range runs north to south on the island. The highest peak is a dormant volcano known as Mount Olvi. The island is heavily forested, even up the slopes of the mountains. Even from the sea, the island looks rocky and rough with some jagged ridges and clefts in the mountains. There are only two locations on the isle that provide save harbor to larger vessels, and the elves have constructed settlements at each one: Seahome in the north and Verdon in the south.

Natural Resources

Common and rare wood can be found all over the island. The elves do harvest it, but in their careful and respectful way. Most of the trade for the wood occurs in the southern town of Verdon.

History

Discovered by the elven diaspora fleeing from The Chaos Elves at the end of the second age. The elves bonded to the land almost immediately. It is said their leader called upon Yeno  to quiet Mount Olvi. Immediately the volcano stopped spewing smoke and has never done anything since. Because of this miracle, the mountain was named Olvi, and ancient Elven word for blessing.
