The Old Gods
Historically, the gods of Quel have kept a close eye on events and exerted their influence through visions, voices, unseen influences, and even direct intervention through avatars (although this is rare). Historically, the “civilized” races have all worshipped the “Old Gods” to some degree with Elves and Dwarves mixing in some additional gods of their own.
The gods are neither good nor evil, but neither are they neutral. Although the motivations of the gods are considered unfathomable to mortals, denizens of Quel interpret divine actions through their own lens, applying a morality to the gods’ actions. This mortal viewpoint is reinforced by the support gods offer their followers, followers who commonly share a particular world view (alignment). As such, the perceived alignments of the gods has been shaped through self-selected segregation of worshipers across millennia. In effect, this self-selection has allowed mortals to shape the nature of the god's actions.
