Variset

One of The Old Gods of Quel.

Variset is the God of two seemingly opposite emotions: anger and compassion. The clerics of Variset say that he is less of a two-faced god and more of a representation of how anger fades into understanding, which leads to compassion and acceptance. Variset strives to teach his followers that a calm mind that releases anger and accepts that much of life is out of mortal control will lead one to a happier existence.

Interestingly, because of the long-misunderstood two-faced appearance of Variset, followers tend to hold extremely different world views (alignments), but tend to be chaotic in how they apply their world views. Over millennia, Variset has fulfilled prayers of the faithful related to inspiring anger and madness in others, as well as granting peace through compassion and acceptance of hurt and poverty in the world. Despite this apparent dichotomy, there has never been talk of schism or conflict within the church of Variset because calm heads have always prevailed.
