Atis
The god of ambition, greed, and monetary success, Atis is seen to encourage his followers to gain advantage over their rivals by whatever means necessary. Atis rewards those who achieve success within the laws of the land, but he does not punish his followers for violations of local laws, as long as they don't get caught. After all, as far as Atis is concerned, it does no good to achieve financial success and lose it all in prison. The clergy of Atis do not voice this somewhat loose moral position in their sermons, but it is known to be taught to acolytes and counseled to worshipers on an individual basis.
In addition to financial success, Atis is seen as the god of ambition in all parts of life. Whether that is ambition in love or athletic competition, denizens of Quel will find themselves praying to Atis before a competition or trial to provide the ambitious spirit that drives one to prepare to the utmost of their ability. Atis is a favorite of pirates, thieves, and bounty hunters whose aim is financial gain, but also follow an internal or group code of loyalty or behavior (their “laws”). Adherents carry a gold coin around their neck to remind them to judge each situation in terms of financial gain, as Atis teaches.
