Thronshire
Thronshire is a rural town in the kingdom of Chernin. It sits along a trade route that links Lyesa with the neighboring kingdom of Hyden. To the north is the town of Cliffholt, along that same trade road. It is the epitome of a quiet, sleepy frontier town. The merchants traveling the road stay in inns near the outskirts of the town and generally avoid interacting with most townfolk, except for the markets that inevitably spring up when traveling merchants stop in a settled area. This town does not have many notable contributions to history and has manily existed silently for centuries.
Demographics
Mostly human, with other races in small quantities. There is a small group of noble families, but the vast majority of Thronshirans are lower class, with a small subsection of sub-poverty folks.
Government
The town is owned by a Baron, who comes from among the noble families and is appointed by the Chernin Council. There is no specific term limit, and Barons tend to pass the title down to their children, until or unless they fall out of political favor with other noble families in the kingdom.
The Baron does not run the day-to-day operations of the town, however. That task falls to a small City Council, of which the Baron is the chair. These councilmen and councilwomen oversee various areas of the town's operation and meet as a group to discuss policy or law changes.
Defences
The town has no formal perimeter walls, though parts of the town have basic wooden palisades for defense. There is a decent City Watch component in the town, which keeps the peace mainly by keeping a close eye on the traveling merchants.
Industry & Trade
Many in town are involved in the agriculture or foresting industries. Though there are no dense forests around Thronshire, the general vegetation provides timber for the capital and New Yazar in particular. There is a small hospitality sector dedicated to serving the traveling merchants, as well as carpenters and smiths to repair carts, and breeders and farriers to take care of the pack animal needs.
Infrastructure
The town has many paved roads, especially the major trade road that runs through the middle of the city. Residential areas have either paved roads or loosely graveled roads, depending on their location and general economic disposition. With no rivers or other clean water nearby, the town relies on a series of wells for water, strategically placed every couple blocks throughout the town.
