Qelara
The ancient world of Qelara has seen many ages come and go. First, the age of gods, supplanted by the elves they created to oversee the world. Then, the age of elves came to and end at the hand of a coalition of humans, dwarves, halflings, and other races. Now, within the age of men, there have been many wars and much turmoil. The world seems to have settled into a relatively peaceful era, though destruction and strife is not but a few decades in the past.
A series of global catastrophes left vast swaths of land swallowed by the seas, killing or displacing tens of thousands of people. The coastlines that once existed have shifted, and some cities that were once inland are now coastal ports buzzing with trade. Some small mountain ranges have disappeared entirely, leading many to proclaim the End Times. Alas, the crises eventually passed, and those immediately displaced or effected were left to pick up the remnants of their lives and start over in a new land. The last of these cataclysms happened around 25 years ago, and the time in between has seen marauding creatures searching for new homes all across the world in the affected regions, as well as struggles in the humanoid kingdoms to address these threats and the recovery that must be undertaken after the loss of so much life and territory.
Along with these geological shifts, the kingdoms and territories have also shifted and changed. Large domains have broken up due to revolutions and civil wars, though the continent of Liadon remains defiantly -- though precariously -- joined in the confederation that keeps Shohain as its unified capital.
During the times of turmoil and strife, deities from across the multiverse recognized the suffering and sent their acolytes to preach new faiths to the downtrodden peoples of Qelara. These new deities were welcomed by some and quickly began to amass followings across the world. Now, at the time we join this campaign, these deities are regarded as normal members of the general pantheon and are worshiped across Qelara.
Though the worst of the troubles seems to have passed, there are rumblings of further complications. No concrete information exists, but priests of various religions have been having signs and seeing omens of impending evil. Several Orders that have arisen in the last few centuries have begun helping the priests, turning their attention to unraveling the mystery and sussing out what plots are in motion.
