The Kingdom of Ardune
INTRODUCTION
The Kingdom of Ardune is considered one of the great powerhouses of the fifth and sixth period of Abeon. They arose from a group of Archian territories in the Dark East, and led an inspiring revolution following The Second Magic War of Abeon. Some historians note the Ardune revolution as the inspiration behind Claxton Pollard's beginning of the Fondalian revolution.
REVOLUTION AND BIRTH
The Ardune territories were discovered during the great exploration of the north during the reign of Christophe I of Archia. The territories were claimed as Archian land, but the native humans always resisted the title of 'Archian'. During the reign of Christophe II, Kerian Montiel, self-proclaimed tribe leader of Ardune, led a revolt against the Archian military at Keriot, the capital of Ardune. The forces, all drafted soldiers who did not even want to be in Ardune, immediately surrendered and fled in their boats back to Eastkorn. Kerian and Christophe met in 3709, and the Archian king agreed to led the Ardune territories regain independance- Christophe was in the process of conquering the battlewrath plain after the collapse of the Ithrium Empire, and Ardune seemed trivial at the time. Both Kerian and Christophe were not aware that their descendants would fight in the 48th century over the middleton region- a fight Kerian VI would win at the end of the fourth period.
CUSTOMS AND CULTURE
Ardune, despite their Archian ties, are worshippers of the true god Loscinder. They are mostly farmers, so their religion did contain cultish bits from Terrestrism, including a denial of Loscin's merciful. Such a denial of The Merciful was thought to be errant by fellow Loscin-worshipping nations The Confederation of Fondalar and The Archkingdom of Grinalia. Ardunese use traditional silver as their currency, and follow a basic monarchy as their system of government. There are no taxes, but there is a mandatory tithe of harvest in any good season of crop. Ardunese are typically happy people, very welcoming to strangers and friends alike; the custom of greeting a stranger is to have a glorious feast of dining, welcoming them into their culture and village. As a result, the culture is always changing slightly, and the diversity of people is wide.
