House of Blackstone
INTRODUCTION
The House of Blackstone (4109 - 4781) is one of the royal houses of Heraldsby, the human based kingdom in the Blue Hills. Blackstone comes from the nature of their lordship, the family residing in a fortress near the Archian border made entirely of darkened brickwork. The house lasted for nearly seven centuries, before ending under the Lordship of Lord Raymond Reginald Slayte IV, the fourth ruler of Heraldsby from his family. House Blackstone was the final of the Blue Hills families.
NOBILITY AND RULERSHIP
The House of Blackstone is ruled by the family patriarch- the oldest, able bodied, living male. While in many cases, this did not make the best ruler, it did solve many familial disputes in Heraldsby surrounding the nature of the millennium old throne.
HISTORY
The House of Blackstone was established as an official Royal House of Heraldsby in 4109 4p, when the daughter of the current ruler, Princess Ginavel, married Loven Orfii of the newly built Blackstone Castle. King Ulrin, Ginavel's father, dubbed the new family tie as 'The House of the Blackstone Castle', later shortened to House of Blackstone. Loven ascended to the throne of the Blue Hills kingdoms in 4194, and his descendants kept it until 4781, when Raymond Slayte, Loven's great grandson, died during the siege of Blackstone by Archian forces in the early days of Markus. The House of Blackstone disolved, and with it, the official royal line of Heraldsby, which lasted over two thousand years, since the discovery of the north by the Archian King Lambert V.
MILITARY AND STRENGTH
The Blackstonian forces are not professional or elite troops, but are semi-trained farmers from the Blue Hills. The only real standing army comes from the current Lord's personal guard- typically sixty or seventy highly skilled warriors from the South, whom the Lord trusts with his life. During the life of Raymond Slayte, this happened to be a group of valkyrie from Hofslond, Windpike under the banner of Re''inn Stevenson, a princess and great warrior who fled the Breaking sixty years prior.
