Christophe II
King Christophe Elymas, Son of Christophe I
INTRODUCTION
Christophe Eleymas II was the 35th King of Archia, and is considered the greatest and most influential king of the fourth period, overseeing the fall of the Ithrium Empire, the completion of the Second Magic War, creating peace with Tsonlar, and forging an alliance of the primary nations of Abeon. After seeing almost two thousand years of endless bloodshed, Lord Christophe II was the guiding force which Abeon needed to return to a state of technological advancement and peace. The fourth period was nicknamed the 'Age of Peace' in large part due to Christophe's incredible diplomacy and strategies as the ruler of the Archian Empire.
UPBRINGING
Christophe II was the son of Christophe the Conqueror, the first Lord of the Elymas house to rule over Archia. Christophe I inherited a kingdom rife with rebellion and war weary citizens following the mindless wars to the south caused by political tension in Dusswik. After the Ungoloth murdered each other, leaving only a singular, Christophe I laid claim to the throne and won the hearts of his citizens. With the Elymas line now in charge of the self-imploding Empire, Christophe I spent years struggling to piece together the shambles of union and trust left by Lambert XII and XIII, and consequently, spent little time raising his only child- Christophe II. This set him back years in development, but ultimately led to a prosperous line of Kings afterward- Christophe II refused to neglect his children and made sure the future Christophe III was raised proper. His rough childhood landed him in prison numerous times, but honed his fighting skills and street smarts, later benefiting him as a shrewd diplomat and military strategist.
EARLY LIFE
When Christophe was twenty-three, his hunting expedition found themselves lost somewhere in the wastelands of the north. Hunted by wild beast and vultures, Christophe managed to survive for sixteen days, hunting his food and finding water and refuge where he could. Ultimately, he found the most refuge in a little broken temple, somewhere north of Ceenar. It was at this point that he first met Andryr the Sapphire, one of Loscin's merciful. The two immediately bonded, and Andryr shared her divine identity with the young man. Christophe was found soon after by Archian scouts, and vowed to the young merciful that he would find her again and marry her. After returning to Ceenar, the young prince converted to Loscinity, much to the chagrin of his father and family. However, his beliefs could not be shaken, and his vow to Andryr would never cease.
ASCENSION
In the year 3568, the long reign of Christophe I came to an end. His death came as a shock to the nation, dying in his sleep of an undiagnosed sickness. With the task of reuniting all the lands of the Archian Empire still incomplete, Christophe II rose to the throne and began reigning. However, his first years were not dedicated to anything excepting finding the maiden who had captured his heart years earlier: Andryr the Sapphire. In one of his famous letters to his sister in Dusswik, Christophe II wrote:
"'She' can not, and shall not, ever flee from my heart, soul, and mind. She has pierced my very being, with an arrow dipped in honey and rosegold, a divine enchantment which delivers even the stoutest of hearts, such as my own, to be hers and hers alone."
EARLY REIGN
After six years of searching, Christophe finally halted the pursuit of his love and focused on reuniting the lands of Orsolon and Porsonal, which had become the Ithrium Empire almost a millennia prior. During the entire year of 3598 3p, Christophe II conquered the entire western lands of Middleton, including important landmark cities such as Gazelli and Prishmere. With the threat of an expanding Archian Empire at their border, Ithrium sued for peace, swearing a yearly tribute in acknowledgement of the Archian Superiority. With his mind still set on finding Andryr again, Christophe quickly accepted the chance for temporary wealth and peace, and used the tribute to fund his hunt for the merciful.
ANDRYR AND CHRISTOPHE
In Jylon of 3601, Christophe had nearly given up his search for his love, and his gaze began to turn back to the Ithrium border. However, a mysterious visitor arrived at the palace during the night of the forty-eighth. First hand accounts tell of Christophe's falling to his knees when he 'first gazed upon his love once more'. Just six days later, Andryr and Christophe II were married, and the young merciful was crowned Queen of Archia.
THE FALL OF ITHRIUM
In the last days of the thirty-seventh century of Abeon, the Ithrium Empire was collapsing from within. The King, Suillop III, was constantly threatened by civil war, and only could rely on his Captain, a young drow named Lyrein Swiftblade. After a botched diplomatic treaty between the Dwarves of Meleuhur and the Ithriunese, resulting in The Battle of the Broken City, King Christophe II led an army of twenty thousand soldiers into Saelmere and beseiged the city. With Suillop III exiled in Tsonlar, and Captain Swiftblade dead at Pruefrost, no one could lead the remaining Ithriunese armies and Archia quickly enveloped the entire Battlewrath Plain in 3707 3p. The fall of the Ithrium Empire marked the end of the third period of Abeon. Christophe had completed the first step toward his father's goal of a glorified and united middleton under Archia, and peace began to return once again to the bloodied plains in Abeon.
