Session 16: The Dirt -- AKA The Bear Ass Truth

General Summary

The team investigated and interrogated a series of leads.

Kyrion & Dankmar

  • Kyrion had been sacked from Lord Understone's crew after losing the brothel money
  • Ultimately became dependent on (and "paid" with) a substance Spug provided, "Dirt" -- a drug that had no psychotropic effects except that it cured the ailments Kyrion was suffering because of his long exposure to the caves; now is suffering from withdrawal, which will get worse the longer he goes without a fix
  • Kyrion thinks he may be able to follow his "hunger" to others like Spug, in exchange for his freedom. His craving for the Dirt occupies all his thoughts.
  • Dankmar seems to be just a kid Kyrion was deceiving -- Leaf recruits him to the City Guard

  •

    Jaysennia's Journal

The Coast Guard brought Jaysennia's coded transcript to Ting, who happily set about translating it while the group was doing other activities. Now that's what I call efficiency. She translated one part, and the group got the gist of her final writing.
      The Baron
  • The Iverforts are from Neverwinter
  • Ivan (Baron Ivan Iverfort) was a moderately successful adventurer until he came to Lient'roc
  • Sometime around the time he got married to Baroness Altunka Iverfort, he made a deal with the Chelu-kaan Council -- specifically with her father, Altunc, whose family makes up more than half of the Council
  • Klaus Iverfort was born before this, and was technically a bastard until he was 5
  • The nature of this arrangement is debated; some say it was love, others suspect it was more business

  • The Final Page
  • Jaysennia had been getting increasingly paranoid, obsessing over the Baron and her suspicions
  • Seemed less interested in the plague
  • Couldn't stop thinking about Ta'lan Rah, the cave you later found her brother inl was digging the tunnel in her sleep
  • Anticipation was building up until the night of the Gutter Party, where she felt an intense pull and presumably went to the cave
  • TLDR:

Leaf learned lore -- specifically about why planar energy may be drawn to Lient'roc. Ting translated some of Jaysennia's pages on the Baron's history. Kyrion and Dankmar were interrogated, to various levels of success.

    New Info/Items:

  • SNTR-1 successfully Artificer'ed an Alchemy Jug that can produce Moonmilk
  • Some of Jaysennia's research has been translated
  • Mili-bohn's hypothesis of the Spiritual Sinkhole
  • Kyrion could potentially lead to others like Spug
  • Mili-Bohn & Dominhall

Mili-bohn has stabilized Dominhall, but he is still unconscious and she can't give clear answers about how long it will be for him to get well. Leaf learned abbreviated version of the lore Kraa'thom & Chelor. Important info (all according to Mili-bohn:
  • One of the Chelu-kaan patron gods, Chelor, is imprisoned in Lient'roc
  • The weight of a divine being trapped created a "spiritual sinkhole" (see diagram below), warping the planar system (see World Axis Cosmology) around it
  • This drew Chelu-kaan in and kept them isolated while repelling outsiders, until the Baron came and actually stayed, causing massive shifts in the history of the land and people that haven't been rivaled since Kraa'thom and Chelor left the physical realms
  • Since then, things have been drawn in and stayed in the area, "pools" of energy and planar detritus
