The party met Klaus while onboard the floating brothel, where he was thoroughly enjoying himself and bragging about his wealth and power. He seemed to have had some history with Fionne. He left just before things went sour, and although he was in the middle of the path between the party and their pursuers, he managed to hide away quite deftly.The Amanita Effect
Klaus formed a friendship with Leaf and was making strides in his own personal development during the course of the campaign. He was kidnapped by his father who attempted to sacrifice him to Ylmyo-Aldon in a desperate attempt to reverse the consequences of his failure to provide a worthy sacrifice in the previous year. Klaus was saved by the Coast Guard after Ivan was defeated. After the Ylmyo-Aldon crisis, Klaus and Fionne cared for Altunka as she dealt with her new form. He wrote to his estranged family in Neverwinter and arranged for his father to be transported there. The Neverwinter Iverforts accepted responsibility for the former Baron’s upkeep in exchange for Klaus formally renouncing all connection to them, including returning the small amount of heraldry his father had kept from them. Klaus then chose a new family name: Ashwarden. He chose it as a goal for himself — to make his way out of the ashes of his father’s failures. Soon after Klaus changed his name, Ting officiated his and Fionne’s wedding at the Universal Temple in Port Shimmerly. Klaus now spends his time building up his own business acumen, forging new networks outside of the contracts he inherited from his father, and trying to overcome the stigma of his heritage both in Port Shimmerly and Chelu-ka. As of the epilogue of the Amanita Effect, he is still treated icily by most Chelu-ka. Shimmerleans tend to feel sorry for him more than anything.Relationships
