Ivan Iverfort
Baron Ivan Iverfort
Previously Baron Ivan Iverfort.
Looking at the official records, no trace of the Baron can be found prior to 1485, when Ivan leveraged his name to found Port Shimmerly. The Iverfort clan seems to have scrubbed the record of Ivan’s existence. Ivan was ousted from Neverwinter when he was around 16, almost 40 years ago, ostensibly to seek his fortune. There was an unspoken agreement for him to leave in exchange for biannual payments of moderate sums.
He traveled around Faerun for years, first working for merchant guilds, which led to joining some adventuring expeditions. At age 20, he began adventuring full-time. He came to the coast of Lient’roc leading a small adventuring party in 1471, 21 years ago. He was 29 years old, and only moderately successful – at this point he was by no means a very wealthy man.
In 1473, the year he was married, The Baron reached some agreement with the Chelu-kaan Council, particularly with Altunc, the de facto leader. He also happens to be Baroness Altunka’s father, and both of his parents are also on the Council – making up a full half of the members of the Council. Altunka and Ivan’s marriage, according to rhetoric, was one borne of love – Klaus was born out of wedlock and was technically a bastard until he was five – but there are rumors (according to Sulphier) that it was more of a business arrangement, since marriage isn’t a social construct traditionally used in Chelu-ka.
The Baron was defeated by the Coast Guard when he tried to sacrifice his son, Klaus to make up for his failure. During this battle, his body deteriorated, becoming a horrible half-corpse of rotting flesh that still moved and breathed. Eidella Montgomery created an Iron Lung -type device that kept him alive, and Klaus sent him to be cared for by his estranged family in Neverwinter. He is heavily disabled and has lost all magic, save the innate magic of his race.
Personality
The Baron has a commanding but not unfriendly demeanor. He is well-respected in the town, both for his contributions to the development of the settlement and due to his authority over its citizens. He is a relatively fair ruler, although he can get hung up on grudges against particular individuals (such as his long-standing problems with the late Terrance Corker).Personal History:
Little public information about the Baron is available. The following is based on the research of Jaysennia Amanita and is only as reliable as the researcher.Pre-Lient'roc

Lient'roc -> Port Shimmerly
Between the time he arrived in Lient’roc and the founding of Port Shimmerly (15 years later, 12 years ago) is murky.In 1473, the year he was married, The Baron reached some agreement with the Chelu-kaan Council, particularly with Altunc, the de facto leader. In-Game History
Briefly suspected during Murder at the Lodge, the Baron's villainy was revealed in The Amanita Effect. His pact with Ylmyo-Aldon was the source of the success of Port Shimmerly, but he failed to make the sacrifice required to maintain the pact, leading to the events of Campaign 2.The Baron was defeated by the Coast Guard when he tried to sacrifice his son, Klaus to make up for his failure. The Baron and the Baronness both want a positive outcome for the Chelu-kaan, although they often disagree on what that might look like.

Description
(From Murder at the Lodge): "You hear the heavy sounds of boots coming down the stairs so loudly it has to be intentional. All the patrons in the bar visibly stiffen. The two men wearing sashes curse quietly and foist the remainder of their drinks to their friends, straighten each other up quickly, and bolt to the front door just as a pale violet Tiefling man with large curling ram’s horns comes into view. He is barrel-chested, with long salt & pepper hair complimented by a highly styled mustache and goatee. He is well-dressed, but not overly so."(From The Amanita Effect): The Baron is waiting in the hall next to the table. He is a pale violet tiefling with large, curling ram’s horns. His salt and pepper hair, mustache, and goatee are meticulously styled. His clothing is clearly fine, but not overly ostentatious. He is barrel-chested, and gives the appearance of one who used to be in great shape, but has gone soft. His burnt orange eyes would remind you of Sultana’s, but they carry a persistent good-natured twinkle that you have never seen in the Captain.
