Foul water and Flowers

Recap
Continued investigation, but got interrupted by discovery of a murdered friend, Magnus.
Summary
The morning after the discovery of Magnus' death we split up. While Muir stayed in the tavern to drink whiskey, Arti went out to investigate the murder and Saga went out to observe the townsfolk in cat form.
Suprisingly, even though Arti couldn't access the crime scene anymore, she did find a trail of dried blood near the scene and followed it to the town square. Saga learned the water in the townwell smelled off and that the locals were concerned about this sudden change. Saga and Arti traded info and decided that the well has to be investigated as it seems to be the only thing off in the town square.
After picking up Muir we asked Marcus for more info anout the well and its water. He told us that there is a nearby cavern that leads to a reservoir which acts as the source of water of the well. Because we aren't really allowed to leave town due to the ongoing investigation, we asked Alaric if we could help with the inspection of the water by taking a look at the reservoir while the guards looked at the well itself. He agreed and we went out.
At the reservoir we found 3 weird flower-looking creatures that were floating on the water. Their scent reminded of the foul smell of the well water. after throwing a pebble in the water one of them attacked and nearly obliterated us. We killed it and managed to escape with its corpse. We are heavily wounded so the plan is for Arti to fetch aid in town: some muscle (to carry the corpse) and some brain (Ingrid to identify what it actually is), Saga is also heading to town to rest and Muir will stay back at the entrance to the reservoir.
Session Notes
Morning:
In the morning mood is still solemn.
Muir decided to stay inn the tavern instead of trying to skip town.
Arti will inestigate in the vicintiy of the crime scene cause she can't just sit still. Sneakily.
Saga is going cat mode and looking about town.
Arti:
rumagging around harbor, avoiding detection
the boat is guarded by 3 guards - taped off with rope crime scene as the boat drifts.
Investigating between old shacks and fish drying racks - discover trail of blood from harbor into town that is out of place, It ends at central square. A trickle trail of dried blood - still not enough for the murder scene but could mean Magnus was moved.
Saga:
At the well in town in the middle of the square sits on top to see why people are looking at it funny.
It smells awful like wet moss and mush, very musky
not right supposed to be clean water
some passerby is going to call guards to investigate
then Arti pops up
she changes back in secluded spot to fetch Arti
told about blood and well
we fetch water from the well
it's a bit murky but not stagnant but very stinky
water is from undergorund reservoir uphill to the right where the lizards live
Marcus Lightfoot might know more about it
Muir is not grieving just grumpy like always :p
actual grieving for her is her seperating herself from people
Maybe my teammates are kinda racists :p
In the inn Muir is sitting in the windowsill
Arti learns Saga can become a cat and that purr is cat for I love you
guards are preparing to go into the well
we head to marcus
concerned Muir is an alcoholic
At Marcus' place:
map of cliffside rough- marked cavern river to the Storm Twins - 1 hr in is reservoir
torch needed - some biolum bats could b e present
goop is flammable not explosive
Hank is one of the guard, Berthold another
Alaric should be in harbor with Gunther
Erick knows where everyone is in the harbor
We convince Alaric to let us investigate the reservoir
Cavern inspection:
Off to the caverns
no lizzies on lizzie beach cause nocturnal
path leads to cliffwalls and verdant fields on the other
Muir finds the cavern with a symbol of her own deity
Art tied torch to quarterstaff and holds it out in front of her
cavern two peeps wide, some small crabs scuttling around
after 10 min cavern slope down, no more crabbies
opens up into a wide room with a large deep pool of water
no animals, some flowers drifting on the pool (2-3)
wide lotus or lilypads like but less brightly colored - brown greenish from a distance
can't see stem of them, doesn't seem to be present
no roots just floating as big as a human
Saga: plants dont look carnivorous or sticky
Arti: no bats dammit, see enlarged center of the flowers, 5 thick black seeds in apple shaped stems in a ring top looks like a pentagon shape
plants don't smell pleasant kinda musky
we throw a pebble at it and miss - it respomds to the rippling
INITIATIVE:
flower attacks using seeds turn bright yellow - radiant damage
vine whip dex save - looks like a tongue
it starts droning and responds like a creature to dmg
the other 2 flowers are not doing much atm
it hits hard though
catapult worked!!
1 seed broke
muir kills with electricity
sinks into the water - yanked out with lightning lure
looks up close more like mix leaf bark and mush with an orifice from which the tongue comes
there are still 2 left but we have to flee as saga is down
