Session 5

The death of a friend

General Summary

Recap
Saga embraced inner cat trying to find the smugglers on the docks. Arti saw a person in the water. Meanwhile was on the western side looking through the caves there. She did find a smuggler hide-out. When everyone gathered at the cave with the hide-out, it blew up and the goons were missing. We headed back to town to rest.

Summary

Smuggler investigation continued
First we went to check in on Gunther and his crew to see if they had found anything new. After a short discussion about how the smugglers escaped unnoticed and what they were smuggling, we offered to help investigate the strange sticky substance found on the walls and ceiling of the smuggler's cave after the explosion.
We headed to Ingrid for help and she will leave a note with Aida once she knows more.

The discovery
We went to check in on Magnus Stonehammer afterwards but instead of a potentially sick survivor we found his corpse. Throat slit and dead for awhile, all alone on his tipi boat. Arti got emotional and Muir annoyed. Alaric set up a perimeter and started his investigation. We headed back to the inn to inform the others of the bad news (and sadly couldn't glean any information from their behaviour).
Later Alaric dropped by the inn to get everyone's alibi and whereabouts. He stated no one is allowed to leave Seeblick at the moment and left 2 guards at the inn.

Currently we have no clue who did it, if the smugglers had anything to do with it or where they are. It was a very sad and depressing day.

Session Notes
We headed back to the Inn and got some sleep. 9th oct
breakfast is oatmeal and bread with honey - nothing fancy - other guests are townees most seem to have gone working.
Gunther would check with more peeps on the cave today, Muir idea to inspect Gretchen?
We will go check in on gunther after breakfast.
Arti eats honey with bread and chug milk - gave granny some milk for her bones
I'm Muir's responsibility today - apparently I need a caretaker
Granny still wants to see Uncle Wilbur

We head to the docks
No Gunther - Erick present - Gunther went west probs at cave
we head to the cave
small group of peeps - sturdier fisherfolk - 3 peeps in cave with Gunther
we're early birds
They found glassshards and teeth - they look like they took the small jewellry
bit of the ceiling has sticky mass on it - smells sour, moldy, acrid, little bit like smell on the ship? - color dark yellow, brown and clear mixture
poke it stick - tarry substance/ jelly? - looks like marmelade at time - collected small vial of it
either smugggler abandoned all goods here or blew smt up we shouldnt find at all
there is no way out eexcept for the way we came and we didnt encounter them - is there a different way out? No
did they go through the water? - but how? giant snorkle (should be seen), plant to breathe air? Spell? bottle of air?
some weeds van have this effect but they don't grow around here
they might be going after the lizards - teeth are lizard teeth
biggest group of lizards live to the east - as they rest on the beach
Ingrid lives south of town - we are going to give her the ooze
Saga agitates Gunther a bit

We head to Ingrid's
pass the town blacksmith ok, bakery is less active today
hillock with small hut surrounded by garden of herbs and veggies - nice fence
someone working in the garden - it's Ingrid
hand over jar of slime - smells it pulls a face - smells like death
we found it in a cave smuggler's place
hut is a small room with bed deiling covered in ropes with fried herbs, shrooms and stuff - smells like potpourri - similar to Saga's hut
most things are recognised by Saga
small workdesk and kitchen area
scoops out a bit of ooze put in cauldron - investigation: color becomes see through in water - part of body in far decomposed state? bones turned to jelly? shrrooms can do this but they don't grow on coastline but in graveyard - no graveyard here, dead get cremated and sent out in the sea - shrooms are a delicacy but not expensive - gravekeepers - natural cleaner - unpleasant scent - good components for salves against fever - can taste like steak - look like clusterd orbs the size of a fist yellow-gray - release harmles puff of spores when collected(all I'm hearing is detergent)
can be chemical process of some sort - lots of evidence of poaching no slime associated with lizzies
UNCLEAR SUBSTANCE
will leave note with Aida when she knows more
Magnus seems fine according to Ingrid - dry eyes and lonely - kept jammering on about his rocks
only knows of weed far up north continent beyond where there is only ice - Gilliweed
peeps under water could be seapeople - people live in the water not here but there are rumors of it - mostly stories

We head to Magnus
pulling sloop - no movement?
look inside tipi of sail and fishing rods
Magnus' throat has been slit - he dead - clean cut from left to right
he has his pipe - pendant with precious stone is there - no robbery
rock solid limbs dead for a while - rigor mortis 2-6 hrs after death, no blood - very little blood too ;itt;e for what it should be
didn't seem sick anymore at least before he died
Alaric arrives - sets up perimeter - gets Ingrid
Arti is devastated
need to send peeps of Meerwacht away? Cannot send to capital (too far) we cant leave as we are suspet as well
Muireall angers Alaric
We can tell peeps of the inn but take note of who tries to skip town after
we leave the crime scene

Muir arrives first at the inn
prepares for a religious service or prayer
peeps whispering to innkeep and husband
arti gathers up everyone in common room
Peeps seem distraught about the news - survivor group us + radboud + 7 survivors
Radboud tries to calm peeps down -"May Magnus be with the gods now."
Spent his last hours alone...

we can ask around on the docks - locals are investigating at the moment - 'be open, be truthful and let's find who did this"
Muir missed all this bc shes prepping for a prayer like she was back home
Alaric enters with guards in inn - will get testimonies from everyone - takes some time
already have Gunther's testimony
Arti told him everything: stake out, cave, return
Saga: omitting cat part?
We're are not allowed to leave town - even Merida, even Alaric
2 guards stay at inn door

Muir heads out to the beach
to perform ceremony
sit down knees in water - lower arms down - water over head to drencj jerself - listen to sea

less peeps on the streets clearly more guards - very quiet
in inn lot of peeps upset but one fellow is brooding like her not sad but annoyed

He's a visitor from the capital - Arthur or something - Alexander, a traveller drops by once in a while
6 ft, short spiky hear mix flaxen blond and dark brown - lean and wiry - longsword with hilt in thick brown leather wrist guards
fingers quite lond and wide, nails cracked hawk-like grey gaze
bit of an adventurer - been to the isles been up north and been down south
often outsiders are first suspect bc they have known each other all there live
