Feromone Fairy
The feromone fairies are native to the Feromone Forest, from where they got their name. They are a sentient race and have a unique skill of learning new languages faster than most races.
It's a common misconception that feromone fairies have the power to enthrall people with their pheromones, but nothing could be further from the truth, in fact, feromone fairies are peaceful by nature, and although they possess magical abilities they only use them defensively, and even then it's mostly illusions.
Feromone fairies are coveted by fairy farmers, who breeds them against their will for their Feromone Fairy Dust.

Basic Information
Anatomy
A feromone fairy is very tiny, with an average height of 8 cm. Most of their features resemble elves, except for their wings. They have two wings, on their backs, just below the shoulders. They are soft and thin as petals and are transparent and colorless.
Their wings produce a fine powder that protects the wings from being torn or scratched. When they fly, small amounts of the powder drizzle off the wings, causing it to glow. This leads many to believe that the powder is magical.

Genetics and Reproduction
Their reproduction methods are the same as most humanoids, involving a male and a female. Feromone Fairies can reproduce from the age of five but aren't considered adults until they're six.
The female is pregnant for around three months, and each pregnancy usually results in one offspring, although twins or triplets have been known to happen on rare occasions.

Growth Rate & Stages
A newborn fairy is born without wings. They will grow out during its infancy and be fully developed once it enters the toddler stage, when it's around four months old.
At around nine months, the fairy will have learned to both walk and fly on its own and is considered a child until it's around three years old, at which point it's considered a young adult.
Physically a feromone fairy is an adult at the age of five, but in their culture, they aren't considered adults until they're six, which is also the minimum acceptable age of procreation, at least for those that don't live in captivity.

Ecology and Habitats
Most feromone fairies live in captivity in Farland, a village that makes a living from breeding them and selling the dust from their wings. The few fairies that don't live in captivity, live in the Feromone Forest, where they are being hunted by the Farlanders, to keep them from mounting a resistance against Farland.
The free Feromone Faeries live in close harmony with nature. They tend to stay near the treetops and also build their houses there, although they spent most of their time outside. Due to the relatively mild climate they live in, they never had to put much effort into protecting themselves from the elements, therefore their houses are mostly built from branches and leaves, usually braided together, and fastened to the trees with small vines, or similar.
They don't need to cook, as they get all the food they need from nature, thus they have no use for a kitchen. Additionally, they don't need an outhouse, as it is quite easy to find a place of privacy when nature calls. Usually, they finish that kind of business while airborne.
This means that a fairy only needs somewhere to sleep, a bit of storage room, and sometimes a living room to entertain guests at night time, or when the weather is particularly bad.

Dietary Needs and Habits
The feromone fairies are herbivores, with a preference for sweet fruit. They've never had to stockpile food as there's always summer in Feromone Forest, and being tiny, even a single fruit can sustain a family of fairies for a few days. This also makes them extremely sensitive to hunger, especially their wings are very sensitive to their nourishment. Even a few days without foods will cause the wings to start withering and can result in irreparable damage. Few fairies can survive for more than a week without food.
Additional Information
Uses, Products & Exploitation
The feromone fairies lived in peace for many years on Kantaras, until humans started settling. The human settlement, Freeport, attracted adventures, and one such group discovered the faeries while exploring the Feromone Forest.
A young fairy named Tikkis befriended one of the adventures and decided to travel with them.
When they came back to Freeport she attracted a lot of attention, and in her naivety, she didn't hesitate to reveal where her people lived when asked, and only a few years later most of the feromone faeries where enslaved.
Initially, they were sold off as exotic pets to people who could pay, but when it was later discovered that the dust from their wings was an important component in refining mithrillium, sales of the feromone fairies stopped immediately.
It is believed that some shadow organization, with influence over The Freeport Trade Confederation, took control over the feromone fairy market, in an attempt to control the flow of mithrillium out of Kantaras.
The fairies are kept in large house-sized cages, where they are free to live as they please, albeit in captivity, and slightly overcrowded. Due to their low maintenance, they are well fed. More resources are spent protecting the cages, from would-be thieves or spies, than on the fairies themselves.
Since the fairies have magical abilities, they managed to escape on numerous occasions, until the cages were upgraded with mithrillium gridiron, which seemed to be resistant to the faeries magic.
Fairy Fungi, an infection common among fairy farmers, caused by infected fairy dust, spread rapidly among the fairy farmers. Once it became clear that a cure required dust from a free and thus healthy fairy, the farmers started hiring hunters to hunt the free fairies for their dust, putting additional strain on the dwindling population of free fairies. Not many people outside of Kantaras know of the fairies' captivity and their involuntary role in the mithrillium refinement process, and The Freeport Trade Confederation try to keep it that way, to avoid any disruption to their lucrative fairy dust dealings.
