Leauregard (Luh-gahrd)

Demographics

Alphi

The overwhelming population of the city carry lycanthropic qualities of some kind, with some such features becoming the defining trait within certain pseudo-ethnicities.

Once matured, alphi like to roll the evolutionary dice on themselves to grow all manner of additional biological traits like gills, harder bones, extra limbs or desensitized nerves.   But more than likely, they are hampered in some grotesque way and need to commission an echoist for an entirely new body.

Industry & Trade

Internal Economy

Despite facing immense challenges, communities find ways to support themselves and foster a sense of solidarity. Thrift shops and barter systems are common, where essential goods and services are exchanged without a common currency. Hall vendors offer affordable, locally sourced products and communal gardens spring up to provide fresh produce.   As a result, the city's residents forge special bonds to uplift one another. Potentially, turning adversity into an opportunity for shared survival.

Infrastructure

Repurposed Ships

The several kilometer long towers that make up the cityscape are the multi-million year old colony ships in the last stage of their design purpose.   Its vertical design influences the ad-hoc renovations maintained by inhabitants that include:
  • a web of elevators
  • optimized power grid
  • waste disposal mechanisms
  • water management
  • Districts

    Architecture

    Vertical Architecture

The interior of former ships was designed to maximize limited space and optimize efficiency for its crew and passengers. The vertical layout is characterized by multi-level decks, with different sections serving specific purposes such as engineering, living quarters, command centers, and cargo bays.   Staircases, ladders, and elevators are strategically placed throughout the ship to facilitate movement between decks, allowing crew members to navigate easily in the microgravity environment. Handrails and footholds are often present to ensure stability during maneuvers or emergencies.   Vertical architecture also allows for more effective compartmentalization and isolation of different sections of the ship, enhancing safety and security. It enables efficient distribution of resources, crew, and equipment while minimizing the overall footprint.

    Geography

    Prionic Ocean

Leauregard is situated in a puddle of infectious self-propagating protein that cause deteriorated mental ability, loss of motor functions and death within months for anyone caught while in an organic body.   Such misfolded proteins are everywhere on the world and stretch into the alien atmosphere corrupting other naturally occurring protein strands; either in the space atmosphere or in people.

    Climate

    Artificial

The city's barons can regulate temperature, humidity, air quality and light saturation into something urbanized and temperate like an enclosed biodome.
