Black Forest

Entering the dark forest does nothing to escape the chill--its as if the trees themselves welcome the cold and damp. Shadows move away with your approach, but a malevolent presence seems to always be watching. The light is always dim here, hiding the labyrinthine trails that criss-cross the area that are more like leylines than paths. The few places that let light in are ancient groves and mounds better left undisturbed. Even the bravest of foresters only work on the edges and quit before sundown, leaving the great trees in the deepest part of the Black Forest to attend to their own.

The Black Forest is a large, thick forest that covers much of the western Havens.

History

The area was contested by the Sovereignty until the Second Pact of Borders with the Hobgoblin Nation. The Nation was granted the free access to the Grudge Mountains in exchange for the Sovereignty's full control of the Forest and its timber.
